On our arrival at the hotel, the person who greeted us at the desk asked for us to be seated and offered complimentary drinks. After being seated he came over and proceeded to speak to us but while speaking to us he was still finishing whatever he was eating and clearing his mouth which was quite revolting. He came to speak about the hotel and what we can do around Istanbul and the prices etc showing us a map. When I mentioned that we’ve already sorted and booked up for our stay Istanbul he slammed closed the map and called on another member of staff to come and take us to our room. This experience at the start of the stay was not a pleasant one nor expected. When we entered our room it was clean and tidy however the white wall seemed run down and can definitely do with a lick of paint to refresh the room up to live up to the expectations given by the photos. The lady who cleaned our room was very kind and friendly, every morning offering us water bottles etc. One thing to be aware off if in room 1006 is the smell of cigarettes are extremely strong!! Despite booking a non smoking room every night the room smelt strong of the cigarette smoke and doesn’t help the smoking area was close to our room. Also given we visited in the winter the Ac/heater wasn’t the greatest as it took a while and few attempts to get it working. It wasn’t the greatest or the worst hotel we have stayed at but don’t think we’d be rushing back.
