BEACHES & CRITTERS: The beach size in Hawaii varies month to month due to weather, heavy surf, strong currents, and tides. Due to Maui's rural setting, you may experience the occasional rooster, as well as harmless geckos. Geckos are friendly, eat insects, and are considered good luck in Hawaii. Please don't kill them. Although the HOA schedules regular professional pest control services, pests such as ants, roaches and rodents simply cannot be completely controlled in the tropics. Maui is in a tropical climate. If our guest spot more than the normal expected pests, we always make our best efforts to contact and work with the HOA to minimize your interactions with these pests. Any contact with such pests within or outside the unit does not constitute a breach of this Agreement or give Guest any right to any refund or rental adjustment.

This condo is very old and in need of significant updating and upkeep. The furniture, fixtures, and overall condition are dated, and there are visible maintenance issues.The most serious issue occurred on our third day. After returning from the beach, we opened the door and were immediately hit with an extremely strong medicinal/alcohol-like smell throughout the condo. The odor was overwhelming and clearly coming from the air-conditioning unit. We felt dizzy and unwell and had to open all windows and doors to ventilate the space.We contacted all listed property contacts due to the seriousness of the issue, especially since we were with our children. We were told someone would inspect the unit, so we left the condo for several hours. After more than 4 hours with no update, we followed up and were told someone had already been there and that “nothing was wrong” and no smell was detected, despite the odor being unmistakable.Customer service later told us there were no alternate accommodations and suggested we stay elsewhere and seek reimbursement later. We were promised follow-up the next day, which never happened. Out of concern for our health, we did not use the air conditioner for the remainder of our stay and kept the windows open instead. There was clearly something wrong with the unit despite management denying it.The only positive is the waterfront location and view, though the ocean directly in front is rocky and not suitable for swimming.We will not be returning

What I liked:-beautiful direct views of the beach from the living interior area and the balcony-great furnishings and decoration-well stocked with kitchen cookware, serving ware, and utensils-in unit washer/dryer-clean interior-grill and pool/hot tub were great amenitiesWhat I didn’t like: -no warning that the AC was not working properly; even with the shades down the apartment was at 80 degrees; not great with a baby; the building sent notice that repairs would take place the day of our departure-only given 4 dishwasher pods for a seven night stay (it won’t kill you to just keep a box of dishwasher detergent under the sink like most short term rentals); ultimately the property manager sent more, but only after having to beg for them-balcony was covered in sand, had to sweep and wash off the balcony myself-guest room ac smells like mildew

Great location beautiful views. Unit was comfortable. Dishwasher does not clean . Both bathrooms need work. Showers have mold. Toilets are so low and old. Kitchen faucet doesn’t turn off you have to play with it to stop. Master faucet has a leak.

Serious roach problem

Pros: We spent two days in Maui and rented this condo. The location is nice and the view from the condo is really pretty. Cons: Infested with roaches. I know Hawaii is full of them, but we killed 5 large ones in a matter of minutes in the kitchen our first morning, and saw countless small ones running in and out of outlets, behind pictures, baseboards, etc
 the unit smelled very musty as well. Check in was terrible. We had an issue with the lock and called the number they gave to call if there was a problem, and they never answered or called back. Fortunately we were able to figure it out. There are tons of other rentals in maui at this price point, definitely rent elsewhere.

Great views & location

A corner unit, views of the pool, pacific and neighboring islands. We saw dolphins and turtles from the patio. The apartment was clean and well appointed. I’d love to come back!

Perfect View - Great location

This was our fourth trip to the island and this was by far the best view we've ever had. Friends stayed in a similar-priced resort room at Kaanapali and they were envious of our view and the quieter pace of life at our pool. Small beachfront, but low population so not crowded. Unit was as represented a perfect space for traveling as a family with two teenagers.

Stunning Views

We really enjoyed our time staying here with such amazing views! The unit is nice but could use some updates like carpet, paint. We had trouble with the dishwasher and it took two separate visits to get it fixed (on our last day). A few small annoyances like the bathroom sink doesn't drain very well, garbage disposal button gets stuck and only ceiling fan in dining area was replaced during our visit. We stayed six nights and would stay at this unit again.

Great Condo with the Perfect View

This was our fourth time coming back to Maui and we’ve stayed at different places each time. I must say this condo was very nice and the view was amazing!!! From the windows. We saw turtles looking out in the morning at the ocean. The condo was clean and great access to the beach which you can walk both directions down the beach. I loved at night sleeping with the door open and hearinf the waves crash in. The lania was awesome too. We would recommend this place to stay and close to many things

Beautiful Island Views

Condo nicely decorated and very clean! Beds and bedding very nice with condo environment comfortable with tropical breeze or A/C. Kitchen well equipped, making meal prep easy for group of 4. Views were spectacular of Lanai and Molokai, daily surfers catching waves, and sunsets! Property maintenance kept pool and spa very clean, with fresh towels always available. Wonderful staff too! We would recommend and stay again!

What happened to our condo?

As we were at the airport waiting for our flight... we got the news that the condo was not ready. What happened? Well I guess construction was not complete. It seems like we would have found out about this prior to the day we were traveling. I don't know what else to say. I understand covid and/or delay in construction may be out of your control, but it does not dismiss that fact that owner/property manager should have known this prior to day of arrival.

Best Views on the island!

Mahana 501 is great. The best views on the island, you cannot get any closer to the water. Our family of 4 had plenty of space and the property was very comfortable. The faucet in the master leaked so they had to shut the water off in that bathroom for our stay so that was a little inconvenient for us. The beaches for swimming and sand are about a 5-10 min walk from the property and were great for all ages. The room has everything you need and it was great to grill and cook meals on sight. I highly recommend this property and thank you for having our family.
