Ridiculous… that’s a one word summation of my group’s stay at the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City. Reserved 5 rooms and when I checked in the day before everyone else in the group front desk staff assigned names to the other 4 rooms. Second room was checked into the next morning and the assigned names were already screwed up. Rooms 3-5 weren’t ready. Next individual tried checking in several hours later to find out staff had canceled one of the rooms following the morning check in. So they rented that individual a room that they luckily had. Late evening (11pm), ration 5 is checked in to. Individual was given a key to a room someone else was already in. Luckily the occupants weren’t present when the individual went in. Around Day 2, 2 of the rooms started smelling like sewer gas. Front desk was notified, their solution was to send up a facilities person to spray an aerosol air freshener. The hotel does a wellness check after 48 hours with housekeeping and a security member. This check is completed around 2pm. We returned to the hotel at 11pm to find our room door open, because it wasn’t automatically closing. So our valuables, laptops and belongings sat open to the public for 9 hours. I asked to speak to management again the next morning and was told they come in around 11-12 and work until 11pm, but called security so I could file complaint about our door. After waiting 30 minutes left because our group was waiting on the security person to depart for an event.
