As a hotel, to a westerner it was as reported above but, realistically, it was in an eastern city in rural Turkey which itself is in poor condition. I would not hesitate to stay there again. If I happened to pass there again - which is highly unlikely.

I found the staff really helpful - and they went out of their way especially to help me find public transport to Ani.... It's a good value hotel with a nice breakfast right in amongst the central market area.

This was the worst hotel we stayed at during our 7-day trip in eastern Turkey. I reserved 5 economy double rooms with a double bed. One of them was no better than a jail cell. Two of them had no space for shower. One had to stand or sit on the toilet to shower. Although the pictures for this room class showed enclosed shower cabin, none of the rooms we were given had a shower cabin. Front desk was a complete disaster. We asked two of the rooms to be replaced with rooms with usable showers for the second night of our stay. Although I gave clear instructions twice as to which rooms to be replaced, they messed it up anyway. The room my wife and I stayed was not one of them. When my wife went to our room after we got back at night, she found another couple in our room. Front desk had no idea about what happened and where our personal belongings were. I'm not going to bore you with details, after several attempts, we found our belongings moved to one of the rooms they assigned to my wife cousin. As a compensation, the front desk upgraded us to a better room which was nice gesture. It is hard to blame the person working at the front desk because he works over 16 hours a day. He is there when we get up early in the morning (6:30 am) and still there late at night (11 pm). Anyone working so long every day will make mistakes. Other things like breakfast were reasonable for price we paid.

Disappointing

The staff were friendly, helpful and communicative. The breakfast was adequate (although water dispenser was empty) and the bedsheets and towels seemed clean. We arrived late at night and were checked in quickly. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the room we were given. The bedding was still wet from being laundered. There was an overpowering smell of smoke in the room and all down the corridors (we are non-smokers). We could hear a guy in the next room shouting loudly into his phone (not the hotel’s fault but was disturbing nonetheless). Additionally the shower was directly next to the toilet with no screen or curtain. For these reasons, we asked to change room. Although the second room was better, we still encountered issues: there were flying insects in the room, the toilet seat was not attached. Musty smell in the room, and the vent in the bathroom was covered with mouldy plastic and sellotape. Every pillow in the room was lumpy. I rarely/never give negative reviews but even for the price we paid, I would expect more. Thank you to the friendly staff.
