We loved our time on the sailboat this April! The boat was a great fit for us, and our daughter loved sleeping in a sailboat. The kayaks there allowed us to paddle and explore othr nearby canals. Abundunt fish were neat to see and catch from the boat and shore. The bathroom with shower was vital for cleaning up after swimming, and we used the adjacent large table and seating area on-shore as well. A great time in a ideal location onlyba few minutes from Key West. We look forward to being back in the future!
My wife and I were in Key West for the first time last weekend and we wanted to explore the island and several different resorts and Frankâs Catamaran was perfect for a home base. Frank is an amazing host who is born in raised in Key West and is also a fireman. Beds were super comfortable , A/C blows cold, and the stars at night were amazing. Really quiet and serene on the boat at night. We also arranged for Frank to take us out on one of his other boats to fish and explore the island, where he took us into the Mud Keys which was amazing. We caught and released a nurse shark as well which was one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend for an experience that is unique from just staying in a hotel and the price was right too.
We had a wonderful time. It is an older, smaller boat but we enjoyed it. There is a port a pot in the cabin but there is a huge shower and bathroom under the carport. We were able to fish right off the boat. Frank will answer texts pretty quickly.
It was 6 miles from key west which we liked.
It sits in an inlet so you donât see much ocean or beach.
Property had a separate bath house. Bathroom wasnât really usable & tv cord was missing so no tv (wasnât there to watch tv)
If you have problems with close spaces, it wouldnât be for you
So glad we did not cancel due to weather. The view, stay on boat, and most of all the communication between us and Frank Jr. Great host. We will definitely be back asap. They made us feel welcomed like family. Thank you so much Frank Jr, you are the best.
Thanks đ again and see you soon
Much love,
Juan & Jess
The host was very approachable. The price was very good for the Key West area which made it my choice. Having never spent any time in a sailboat, it took a bit of time getting used to the tight quarters. I was glad they have a full standard bathroom adjacent to the boat. Iâd stay here again when in the area.
Frank was freindly, knowlable and super accmodating. The facility was clean and close to everything we needed and far enough away from the noise...the locals where freindly and quiet.
Just a great stay....WE WILL BE BACK!
So glad we stayed here! It is exactly what I was looking for. A unique way to visit Key West. It was nice to open the hatches and have a nice breeze and great view of the stars. He has a nice bathroom with shower in the car port. The host was great with communication and was really cool. Definitely recommend
We stayed on the boat over Spring Break. There were 3 of us and we could have fit 1 more. Fitting six would be tight. The owners let us use kayaks and the shower/bathroom near the parking was excellent to clean off after a day at the beach. Itâs 15 minutes to Smathers Beach and 20 minutes to Old Town.
Not fancy but did the job. Absolutely lovely hosts!!! And located in a very safe neighbourhood on a canal. Nice to have access to a nice big bathroom with shower although there is a small boat bathroom on board. Ours sons slept well. Boat is older so don't expect it to be fancy but we had comfy beds, a fridge, a microwave and K-Cup coffee machine. Loved using the kayaks/paddleboards too! Thank you!
An original way to spend a few nights close to Key West
We originally picked staying on the Catamaran due to it being about half of the cost of staying anywhere else in Key West. The location is 15-20 minutes from downtown Key West and was a convenient, reasonable and original way to spend 2 nights. Frank was prompt to contact us the day of our check in to let us know the boat would be available earlier than planned if convenient for us, which it was. It has AC, a medium size fridge and 3 beds which served our purpose for a family of 4. A shower & bathroom is available under the house and were very convenient, although a toilet was available on board should somebody not want to walk the 30 ft to the main bathroom at night. Remember you are on a boat, tied to a dock in a canal. Altough very protected from the elements (waters were mostly flat 99% of the time), we did have very windy conditions one night and the boat did rock back & forth a little bit. Keep that in mind if you are one to easily get sea sick. Everybody did fine in our group. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
For an atypical Florida stay, I recommend this option. For our family of 6, this was perfect. The kids loved the sleeping nooks and playing around the boat. Just a heads up that this boat is not docked in a marina, itâs in a neighborhood off the ownerâs house. Itâs only 3 houses inside an inlet thus a short paddle to the larger open water. Free usage of kayaks, paddle boards and life jackets meant we could explore, watch the sunset and cruise around without taking a big boat out. We also had access to a nicer bathroom/shower detached from the main house so we didnât all have to wait for the bathroom on the catamaran. We were one key away from downtown Key West so easy to pop in and out to beaches, shops and restaurants. The main bed was so comfy, especially one night with a thunderstorm. It was a fun experience for the whole family.
Itâs not very big but if you want something unique to experience this is it. Could use some upgrades if you wanted to watch tv. Even though it says it sleeps 6 it will be a tight squeeze. If they had an outdoor fire pit that would be nice. So itâs super crammed in there with 6 people. Frank and his dad were very nice told us to use anything we wanted so that was a plus. The shower under the house was nice and not a problem to use at all we preferred it actually . If youâre older getting on and off the boat maybe a problem for you so I wouldnât recommend this place
Frank and family were great to work with. Made sure we had everything we could need. Very welcoming and kind. Beautiful slice of heaven. Kiddos loved new experience sleeping and fishing off the boat
We had a good time staying on Franks boat. We mostly just slept there and had no issues. Frank was a good host. The boats a/c worked well. Place could use a womenâs touch. That would make it even better. Little things like a sheet and maybe a few more amenities like paper towel and such. For the price compared to renting an expensive place in Key West it was well worth it.
