The property was at a fantastic location. It was a short walk to the beautiful beaches. The Vrbo had chairs, umbrella, and other beach accessories to borrow while there. We definitely enjoyed our time there. Back in the mainland now and miss everything dearly.
This is the affordable area in Maui (Kihei).
You need to have a car in order to get aroundâŠ
Nice condo unit but small.
The pictures you see is what you get.
Outside of the fact that this unit is located on the top floor, small and dated hotel room would be more accurate than "Penthouse". No central AC and instead a loud wall unit which blows 12 inches from head of whomever is sleeping nearest slider.
We booked for one night- in room less than 12 hours. Originally booked quick trip for my daughter and myself, with my husband deciding to join us at the last minute (not thinking anything of it as it says "sleeps up to 4"). Left room barely used and in great shape only to receive a rude and accusatory email several days later saying "I got caught" and they were keeping my "refundable" damage security deposit. Apparently the owner watches the coming and goings of guests via a ring doorbell camera set outside the unit (I have never encountered this with any other VRBO properties). In going back through booking/policies, nowhere did it state my deposit would be kept, in full, for adding a guest. I now understand there was an extra charge and would have been okay with paying the additional fee for my husband, however the owner has been unreasonable and unwilling to compromise. VRBO representatives have been in contact with the owner and also recommended refunding the remainder of my "damage" security deposit- owner has "refused".
I cannot overstate that had I known this room was going to end up costing closer to $500 I would have absolutely booked elsewhere. If you plan to have more than 2 guests (i.e rate increase) seems you would find better values elsewhere with more space and without having your visit monitored.
