A-Frame of Mind on the meadow

Steps away from the meadow cross-country ski track in West Meadows  - sleeps 8

Retreat to the serenity of this cozy cabin on the meadow with sweeping views of the valley and Red Cliffs towering beyond. This mid-century modern A-Frame welcomes you to curl up by the fire beneath 22ft ceilings, enjoying a well-deserved family meal and movie night after a wonderful day on the slopes. You’ll plan your next day in the mountains with floor-to-ceiling views of them right outside. Step out the door and find your stride on the cross-country ski track, groomed daily and inviting you to loop the meadow. Or, if downhill is more your speed, just ask Kirkwood’s shuttle service to pick you up – you’ll be the first stop and on the chairlift in minutes. Whether returning after a day of skiing or cuddled up by the fire with your favorite book, you’ll feel right at home here.

Sunny and bright, you’ll find a large bedroom upstairs with a king-size bed, adjacent to a loft with 4 singles - perfect for the kids. Downstairs is another bedroom, also with a king-size bed… very unusual at Kirkwood. And in between, a tasteful open floor plan facing the meadow which features a dining table with seating up to eight, a 65” OLED Smart TV, decks front and back, and a classic wood-burning stove to keep card games and puzzles galore warm and toasty.

Not a winter family? This A-Frame walk-in cabin is just as inviting in the summer and fall, offering waist-deep wildflower walks through the meadow, renowned hiking and mountain biking trails nearby, and many Alpine lakes nearby to dip into, boat around or simply fish the day away.

Whatever the season, you’ll find A-Frame of Mind just right for your family.  If this is your first time to Kirkwood Mountain Resort, you’ll be drawn to its beautiful and natural setting nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. The resort offers a variety of summer attractions such as hiking, biking, scenic jaunts in waist-deep wildflowers, and many Alpine lakes to dip into. You’ll also be delighted to discover that this popular, family-friendly ski resort is known for its challenging terrain and deep snowpack for skiers and snowboarders.  Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, Kirkwood has a plenty of trails for you.

Please note: For property access during winter, must walk on groomed snow approximately 150 feet from parking inlet. Good idea to bring snow boots, flashlights and a shovel for your car. Please only use provided plastic shovels on the deck and steps. This is a walk from where your car is parked.

Didnt end up staying in this place, owner canceled last min due to personal reasons. Would have loved to stay in this A frame house. So no feed back on the house itself.

A-frame on the meadow

This was our second stay at the A-frame. Perfect for 2 families. The kitchen is well stocked, the woodstove cozy, and the view over the meadow gorgeous. It'e a bit of a schlep to the front door in deep snow, but the snowshoes at the cabin help! Worth the adventure

Great Space for Our Purposes

8 of us stayed here for our annual fishing trip at Caples, Silver, Blue Lakes and others. House fit us perfectly, everyone had a bed and the living room was perfect for hanging out after a long day on the water. Parking was easy and plentiful in October. Everything was clean, just some stains on the carpet, but that is minor. Would definitely stay again!

Quiet and nice setting

Our stay was good. I'd say value-wise this property was in the top 75% of the places we've stayed. It is in a nice location, is quiet and has a good vibe. The kitchen was well outfitted. The house was clean. A good TV with steaming options and good internet. A couple of notes: 1) Beware of the 150 schlep to the house from parking, either in snow or not. 2) There is no outdoor furniture. 3) The upstairs bedroom is open at top to the sleeping loft, noise and light-wise.

Wedding rental disaster

The property was a complete disappointment. It started with carpenter ants and as the stay unfolded spiders. The property manager responded with sending someone out to spray but it should have been done before we got there. Did not seem to be a surprise. As for the carpet it was spotted with dirty areas. The furniture was worn. The furniture was dirty. Leftover food crumbs in cracks of tabletops. No tissues were provided and horrid toilet paper. We rented this home in order to be at our godsons wedding and left a day early because the home grossed us out.

Beautiful home if a perfect location

Super clean and updated--it does not have the "worn ski cabin" feeling at all. Great location near the edge of the meadow where the creak is easily heard.

Beautiful A-frame on the meadow

We enjoyed a magical few days in the A-frame watching the snow fall. Amazingly easy to get to skiing via the Kirkwood shuttle. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and implements. The kids enjoyed sleeping in the loft, and playing out in the snow. We definitely want to come back again.

Fall Color at Kirkwood

A-Frame cabin had all of the essentials for a getaway for high Sierra hiking, fall color, and partial eclipse. All of the coziness of a cabin in the mountains with glorious views, woodstove ambience, and wifi for the kids... without the hassle of snow!

Beautiful cabin on the meadow

I can't speak of staying in the winter, but for the summer, THIS is the place to be. Very comfortable and cozy with everything you need. It is a wonderful location on the Kirkwood meadow with a hiking trail right off the deck. It was perfect for our stay.

Way more snow than we expected when we booked our stay and made it a little more difficult to get to with the snow melting. Still a fun stay and would come back.

Great location!

The location on Kirkwood property is outstanding. The amenities are not new but more than sufficient. With the historic snowfall this year it is imperative to bring a shovel with you in addition to the one at the property. Hot water does run out quickly, and if you want more firewood you have to ask and then figure out where the trap door is (downstairs bedroom closet, who knew?!) to get the wood. There were a few maintenance things that we told the property manager about, including the front door not closing enough to lock, kitchen sink drip, and upstairs shower not working. Hopefully those things are fixed soon. We had a great time, it was everything we needed for a spring break in the mountains.

Great location and managers

Can’t beat the location in Kirkwood and the shuttle service is terrific. Management is helpful and responsive. Home is nicely laid out but furniture is rather worn, with cracks in some sofas and chairs. King size bed has seen better days, though the rest aren’t bad.

Great Ski Weekend

Very cute house in a beautiful setting. Everything was as stated in the listing except we didn’t have body soap for the two bathrooms to take showers (there was hand soap and dish soap) so that was disappointing since we booked three nights.
