Round up the entire family for a beach vacation and a lifetime of memories at "The Gathering Place." This spacious oceanfront home boasts stunning views and a location that can't be beat. Getting to the beach is a breeze with a direct walkway from the house to the Schooner Ridge private access. Situated in the heart of Duck, "The Gathering Place" allows guests to safely and easily walk or bike to a variety of shopping, dining and attractions.
The top level main living area is generously sized, with vaulted ceilings and an open-concept layout that maximizes the ocean views. There's also plenty of outdoor space, including a screened porch and sun deck that overlook both the ocean and the private pool area below. All six of the bedrooms include an ensuite bath, so everyone can have their own retreat with plenty of space and privacy. In the evenings, hang out by your private pool, or soak away the day in the hot tub. A dry entry with half bath on the ground level provides convenient access from the pool or beach.
No need to worry about traffic or finding parking around town, since you'll also be just a short walk or bike ride away from the best shopping, dining and activities that Duck has to offer. Attend annual events hosted at the Town of Duck amphitheater directly across the street. There's also a public park complete with soundside boardwalk that takes you on a delightful stroll along the water to a variety of boutiques and restaurants.
When you're not on the beach or exploring town, take advantage of the exclusive community amenities of Schooner Ridge. An indoor heated pool, game room and fitness center are ideal for off-season stays and will keep everyone in your group entertained, even on rainy days. There's also an outdoor pool and tennis court.
Pets allowed - dogs only. No smoking/vaping. Please refer to the Rental Agreement while reviewing Rules & Policies for pool opening/closing dates and pool heat information, including details regarding the optional pool heat fee.
What an amazing time we had. The house was well kept, clean and exactly as described. Location was excellent and close to the town. We had a slight issue with getting into the house but management helped immediately to get us in. We are planning next years vacation to this same house.
You know those hotel commercials where the family books a VRBO/AirBnB that looks great online but turns out to be a nightmare? This was it. In 2 words: Stay Away! First, the house was filthy. Furniture was covered in dust, one of the beds had sand in it, another had human hair on the blanket. All of the bathrooms were nasty with mildew on the shower curtains and/or fan fixtures. There's a dead rusty grill (beside a newer one that works) by the pool. The outdoor furniture is sparse and dirty. Secondly, we had to call maintenance nearly every day - and we are NOT "those" people. I've stayed in many, many VRBOs and this was by far the worst experience yet. The pool skimmer was not working on arrival, that was fixed pretty quickly. The refrigerator leaked all week and was never fixed. The AC went out on day 3, and though fixed by late that evening, had the main room up to 89 degrees during the day. The smoke alarm would go off randomly, despite no smoke or anything resembling it. And I'm not talking about the low-battery chirp, I mean the screaming, ear-splitting alarm. The kitchen sink developed a link on our next-to-last day - also not fixed before our departure. This was a minor thing: but the house is not well-equipped and provided only 2 beach chairs for a house that sleeps 12, no beach towels, minimal TP, etc. The only good things about the house are the location right on the beach, and the fact that each bedroom has a private bath.
We booked the house for a small family reunion following a family wedding. We had 3 couples, siblings and spouses. The house is in an awesome location within an east half mile (10 minute) walk to the center of town. Shops, restaurants and bars, Duck Donuts, Kitty Hawk Kites, a mile long boardwalk of shops all within east walking distance from the house. Letâs not forget the BEACH literally steps away! Very private and very few people. The house has a pool (closed for off season) and hot tub. There is an adjacent community pool (also closed for the season). We had a great time visiting. Flew kites on the beach. Took a keep ride to see the wild horses. Visited lighthouses and State and National parks. Are at some excellent restaurants including Cravings (had an excellent lunch) and Blue Point for dinner. Great good. Great weather. Great family. Great times!
This is a nice oceanfront property. The place is comfortable, easy parking, nice features as advertised. Kitchen is well equipped. The only negative we noted was the fact that several elec outlets would not hold plugs, like for phone chargers along with a lamp plug.. Suggest an electrician check this out.
This was a lovely property centrally located in the town of Duck. The pool and hot tub were great and the immediate beach access let us visit whenever we wanted to. During peak season the pool in front might get a bit busy but it seemed like community had it under control. Really enjoyed our stay!
