The Neighborhood:
Adventure awaits on Pleasure Island. Exploring the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, home to incredible coastal wildlife, or take the scenic car ferry across the Cape Fear River for a relaxing visit to the charming town of Southport where quaint streets are filled with unique antique shops and galleries. History lovers can walk the scenic, liveâoakâlined trails of the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, where Civil War bunkers still stand. Nature enthusiasts will love the islandâs two stateâmanaged coastal preserves: Carolina Beach State Park, home to rare Venus flytraps found naturally only in this region, and the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, known for pristine beaches, marshes, and wildlife viewing. Both offer beautiful opportunities for hiking, paddling, fishing, and spotting pelicans or even nesting loggerhead sea turtles.
After a day outdoors, unwind on your private balcony with a sunset cocktail, or head into town to explore the best of Carolina Beach. The Carolina Beach Boardwalk, ranked one of the Top 10 Boardwalks in the U.S. by Food & Wine, features classic seaside funâlocal restaurants, an arcade, ice cream shops, bars, and the famous Brittâs Donuts. In summer, enjoy weekly fireworks and live entertainment, carnival rides, family nights, and Flamingo BINGO. Offâseason brings signature island events like the Cape Fear Kite Festival, Christmas by the Sea, and the Island of Lights Festival. Pleasure Island offers something unforgettable for every travelerâadventure, relaxation, and the perfect coastal escape.
Getting Around:
Getting around Pleasure Island is a breeze! While parking can be limited in peak season, especially in popular spots, paid private or public parking is available. We recommend exploring Carolina Beach and Kure Beach on foot or by bike â they're super walkable and bike-friendly. You'll find safe pedestrian and bike routes, including the Island Greenway. Renting a golf cart or bike is easy, too, with several local rental companies. Golf carts are one of the easiest ways to cruise around the island. Rentals are simple to arrange, and once you're behind the wheel, you can zip along any road posted 35 mph or under.
Other Things to Note:
You must be at least 25 years of age to book this property.
Very positive stay! We would stay again. Only negative was the size of the TV in the main room. We like to watch movies at night . The TV is small relative to the distance to the 2 couches.
The photos of the home did not depict the actual size of rooms and/or affiliation of the home layout. The pool is quite small. All of this is fine as long as you know what you are getting. It was unpleasant to be surprised by layout, pool size, and how close the neighboring properties are. The location is wonderful, the home is well maintained, the water pressure is PERFECT, the beds sleep well, and closet space is nice. Some small details could be added like towel hooks in the bathrooms, a retractable clothing line on the back porch, and moving the washer and dryer to the downstairs area. Overall it was a good stay. We appreciated the bikes we could use but wish we had known we didnât have to rent them so we wouldnât have brought our own. The rental contract alludes to having to rent these but a sign is up at the house saying they are free to use. Would have been nice to know they had a beach wagon and things we could have used so we wouldnât have brought our own. We had 2 rounds with bees we had to spray, thankfully we didnât get stung. The trash was VERY FULL when we arrived and we had really no where to go with our trash until Tuesday. The kitchen trash can is too small. A larger can may have allowed us to hold more trash until trash pick up on Tuesday. Iâm sure this seems like a lot but I own my on Vrbo and I know how important these details are for 5 star reviews. Hoping the constructive points are well received. We enjoyed the property and would return.
Our stay at Comfort Zone was great. We had plenty of room for our family of 8. We loved how close the ocean was and also a short walk to Kure Beach Pier. Everything was as described in the listing. We had a wonderful time and would stay again.
This property was very well described and the location is great! It was very clean and spacious! A very easy and short walk to the public beach access. Only one main street to cross. There are no stairs at the beach access, so a wagon would have been great to load and bring beach gear. I would definitely stay here again and appreciate the fast communication with Sea Coast Rentals. (This property is managed by a rental company and not the owner.) Our only request would have been a spot for extra parking. Only two cars can be parked at the house and the extra car had to be moved around at the pay to park spaces. The house and the beach were great spots!
Loved the house and its proximity to the beach/public beach access. Check in/check out was super easy. Only had one issue with the stay: one kitchen drawer had been filled too heavily with items, and broke due to the weight. Everything else was great
We had very good time. Close to beach. Pool right out the door. Low key. Good good close by. Parking was only problem. Hard a lot of place s. We needed extra parking and were able to get some close.
we stayed there during memorial weekend and had a good experience .The property listing was pretty accurate and we were arriving pretty late but check in which went very smooth . The agents were very responsive and gave all details. The house is clean except tht we found 2-3 dead roaches. The location very good as the kure beach is 100 feet away across the road and was not very crowded even during memorial weekend. The house has ocean peak from one of the balconies. We did nt tried the inhouse pool but saw other families there. We spend lot of time on Myrtle beach,SC which was 2 hours drive from here. Check out instructions were clear and we had a good time overall
We found the property to be very dirty, especially the first floor bathroom, but most importantly, found a couple roaches on the first night of our stay and thought they just got in somehow. We realized after seeing multiple roaches the second night and during the day that they were inside the townhouse. We contacted property management and weâre offered a different place to stay but their other properties would not have fit our large group. They refunded our money for the remaining 2 nights that we didnât stay in the townhouse and gave us a discount for the days we did stay there. Hopefully, these issues can be resolved for future guests because this has the potential to be a very nice property.
The location was great. We felt that the carpet could have been cleaner. But it had lots of extras..more than enough kitchen items etc. the bikes were great also.
Annieâs place was ideal for our family vacation. It was very clean and well appointed. Itâs an easy walk to the beach, even with little ones and all the gear required for them. It is also convenient to the Kure pier. We enjoyed playing in the pool too!
This is the perfect vacation spot! Walk to everything & view of the ocean.
The property was excellent. Fit our needs perfectly. It does need a few things maintained but we had a fabulous week & would definitely stay here again!
We stayed here while in town for family reunion. We had three different generations in the house and it was perfect for everyone. The downstairs room was great for the teenagers. Having the pool so close was definitely a bonus. The beach was just a short walk. We had a group of about 30 that went to dinner at Havanaâs and they were able to comfortably accommodate us. The teenagers ate at Jack Mackerel and said that it was fantastic. We had burgers from the Island burger bar across from big daddyâs and they were great. If you plan to have a golf cart make sure that you reserve it ahead of time. We had planned to bring our own golf cart but it did not meet the legal street requirements and we were unable to rent one at the last minute. The townhome was clean. The kitchen was well equipped for the cooking that we did.
Fantastic stay. Beautiful condo with lots of sleeping space. Very convenient to the beach.
We were there for a family wedding & festivities before & after. Great location. Very short walk to beach. Nice area to bike. Fun to take ferry to Southport where Safe Haven was filmed. Unique Boutique is our favorite local women's store just into Catolina Beach. Rental company made our stay very easy. Lots of info on condo and the area.
