The Neighborhood:
Adventure awaits on Pleasure Island. Exploring the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, home to incredible coastal wildlife, or take the scenic car ferry across the Cape Fear River for a relaxing visit to the charming town of Southport where quaint streets are filled with unique antique shops and galleries. History lovers can walk the scenic, liveâoakâlined trails of the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, where Civil War bunkers still stand. Nature enthusiasts will love the islandâs two stateâmanaged coastal preserves: Carolina Beach State Park, home to rare Venus flytraps found naturally only in this region, and the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, known for pristine beaches, marshes, and wildlife viewing. Both offer beautiful opportunities for hiking, paddling, fishing, and spotting pelicans or even nesting loggerhead sea turtles.
After a day outdoors, unwind on your private balcony with a sunset cocktail, or head into town to explore the best of Carolina Beach. The Carolina Beach Boardwalk, ranked one of the Top 10 Boardwalks in the U.S. by Food & Wine, features classic seaside funâlocal restaurants, an arcade, ice cream shops, bars, and the famous Brittâs Donuts. In summer, enjoy weekly fireworks and live entertainment, carnival rides, family nights, and Flamingo BINGO. Offâseason brings signature island events like the Cape Fear Kite Festival, Christmas by the Sea, and the Island of Lights Festival. Pleasure Island offers something unforgettable for every travelerâadventure, relaxation, and the perfect coastal escape.
Getting Around:
Getting around Pleasure Island is a breeze! While parking can be limited in peak season, especially in popular spots, paid private or public parking is available. We recommend exploring Carolina Beach and Kure Beach on foot or by bike â they're super walkable and bike-friendly. You'll find safe pedestrian and bike routes, including the Island Greenway. Renting a golf cart or bike is easy, too, with several local rental companies. Golf carts are one of the easiest ways to cruise around the island. Rentals are simple to arrange, and once you're behind the wheel, you can zip along any road posted 35 mph or under.
Other Things to Note:
You must be at least 25 years of age to book this property.
Couldnât have picked a better place! Beautiful ocean views , short easy access to the beach , very clean and spacious. The balcony off the master bedroom was also glorious! We totally will be back!!
At first it seemed very unwelcoming by telling you to pretty much bring everything. Iâve stayed in many other rentals and never had to buy our supplies as we did here. Our welcoming gift was 2 rolls of toilet paper & 1 paper towel. (3BR, 3B â 4 guest for 5 days??)
We had a few issues with light bulbs out but was quickly resolved by Sam the handyman. He was very nice & took care of things. Also, the downstairs bathroom towel rack & toilet paper holder were broken and barely hanging. The internet was very bad. In and out all the time. Cleaning people need to pay more attention to items not working correctly & report to management for repairs.
The location was perfect for us as far as getting around the area and we did enjoy ourselves.
The room itself was great and we enjoyed our stay. The air conditioner broke towards the end, but the maintenance company was extremely responsive and had it fixed within two hours. The condo was very clean and well maintained, and space was no issue with 11 people. The only inconvenience we experienced was that there was no ability to lock the beach equipment room in the garage below. Unfortunately, we had a beach wagon and pop-up canopy stolen during the first night, as well as some other, smaller items. While the room was fantastic, the beach was not as kid-friendly as we had hoped. The beach was very rocky, and there is a steep drop off about 50 feet into the beach. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed both the room and the stay. Would definitely visit again!
The townhouse is very spacious and has 2 amazing decks where you can hear the waves as you sleep. Make sure to bring your paper products, laundry detergent, dish detergent. If you're bringing kids to play in the water there are rocks right in front of this property and need to be careful when diving into the water if the tide is high. The area is beautiful and great place to find amazing shells.
We really enjoyed our stay. The views are amazing and the place is very nice and clean.
We do believe that at this price point it's a little odd that we have to put the sheets on the bed ourselves, but we knew that going in.
We had 3 generations together to enjoy. From my 82 year old mother, my sister her twin girls and 4 of her 7 seven grand children 8 years old, 3 year old and my 2 18 month old twin great niece and nephew we had an amazing time. Special time to sown with family.
The property was very clean, and the beach access is walking steps from the pier. The communication with the property manager(s) was very swift, constant, and clear. I loved the email and text communication! The only thing this property needs to work on is TV and AC information. We are a young group and had trouble working the TVs and the downstairs TV in the first bedroom kept popping off. The upstairs masters bedroom was extremely HOT and we could not adjust the unit because it kept asking for a code! Beautiful property, and my family and parents enjoyed it.
We were very pleased with this condo as it was extremely clean on the inside, had an updated kitchen and sheets/towels were provided (they came sealed in plastic and placed in each bedroom). The master bed was very comfy making for a good nights sleep. We also liked that there was a downstairs and upstairs balcony, but unfortunately the birds (mostly pigeons) have made the upstairs balcony their perching place and the deck floor, railings and chair were covered in bird poop (yuk!). Maybe you could put a fake owl or something on the railing as a bird deterrent. We used the main floor balcony which is underneath the upstairs one so it only had a little bird poop on the railing which we washed off (we left the bucket for future renters). This condo is almost to the end of Kure, close to Ft. Fischer, making it a quieter area with less traffic. The beach in this area is known for it's rocks , making for a beautiful beach setting when the tide is low, but for those that like to swim, not so great. Children love it as they can crawl around the rocks and look for crabs/shells in-between the rock crevice's and seagrass. The designated parking space under the building is the largest one for that building which is great for those that have large SUV's. We had a little difficulty with the thermostat, it would be nice if there were a set of directions on how to use it. Same goes for the TV sets. We never could get the master bedroom TV set to work (we had sound only). The shower drain in the Master could use a cleaning (drains very slow) and it might be wise to put some slip resistance tape in all the showers... the downstairs one was quite slippery. One set of blinds do not work in the master bedroom (left hand side)... all the rest are fine. All in all, we had a very nice stay and yes, we would come back to this unit again. We loved that the ferry to Southport is just down the road (great ferry ride, just 30 minutes and Southport is such a cute town) and also that the aquarium is right here also (otters were so cute! The 2 story shark tank was very impressive). Lot's of places to eat at (try Fish Bites) and visit outside of Kure which made for a great vacation.
Need instructions for operating television
Only able to get stations on master bedroom tv but tried to change channels and could not get stations after attempting another station. We tried instructions from tech but It did not work on living room tv. Also thought linens were not included in this rental but turns out they were.
