It was a lovely home. The space was as pictured. Initially, I was concerned I wouldn't find the property because I'm unfamiliar with how homes are placed in Japan, but the host provided a great map. Also, Google Street View helped. I will say that my kid and I have sensitive noses and a neighbor was smoking outside. We were able to smell the smoke and initially thought the smell was from the property. Just so you know it's not the property and the smell does go away.
While the property was certainly clean and very charming, the pictures suggested it was much nearer to notable attractions than it actually was. It was about 45 minutes by bus and rail to Gion, which it pictured, and even further to the philosophers path, which was also pictured. I was pretty upset to find out just how far away we actually were to the things we came to see. Additionally, the air conditioner works but not very wellâ it took several hours to cool just one room to a tolerable temperature on an 85 degree day. It was fine, but wouldnât recommend it to a friend.
Comfortable and charming, especially upstairs.. not that easy to find at night ⊠great to have a washing machine and good bathroom⊠some tea in the kitchen would have been nice⊠good location âŠ
