I would not recommend staying in Lahad Datu at all. We were chased down the street by children begging. They would wait outside a shop for you and continue to chase. People at a local laundromat were taking photos and filming us. Felt very unsafe and harassed. Ended up hiding out in the hotel and ordering food off grab. The food was horrible and made us sick.
As for the hotel the lobby and rooms smelt of tobacco. The staff were not very friendly or helpful. There were only lamps but no overhead light in the room. The sheets were stained. There was a fridge in the room but it didnât really work. They do have working wifi thankfully.
Honestly this might be a nice place in Lahad Datu but if youâre only staying overnight to try and transit to and from Danum valley, then Iâd highly suggest look at all transport options bus, planes, taxis and private drivers and stay in another town
The building is in a rundown state, room lights insufficient, insufficient power points. I paid for breakfast but hotel stopped providing breakfast long ago. I got cheated by Expedia and the hotel. No refund although I contacted Expedia customer service. I was charged RM150 (USD33) for breakfast for 2 days.
Location of the property was nice. Just right at the corner thereâs a very nice Chinese restaurant - Chris corner. However, the toilet was stucked when we try to flush. Was worried that it would overflow to the floor. Eiks!
Grim. Very dirty. Problems with water supply. Restaurant and coffee shop permanently closed. No room service. No service! No room cleaning carried out. reception generally not manned and no operator. Itâs not clear who would want to stay here. Avoid.
