Inside Out Cottage · One With Nature|Cozy|Romantic
The name âInside Outâ came about to describe this immersive experience where boundaries between youan & the forest dissolve, leaving you with a sense of tranquility & connection. Wake up as the sun rises to a view of the dewy forest through the wall-to-wall glass doors that fold open completely, where there is no transition from the inside out. The optional wall-to-wall screen provides a sense of security in this intimate sanctuary while still allowing the cool breeze to flow into the house.
The space has flexibility for whatever you desire most in terms of experience. Feel like outdoor living? Then open the glass doors completely & immerse yourself in nature. Feel like doing a Zoom call for work? Then close the glass doors, let everyone else play on the deck open your laptop, & focus on work for an hour. The cathedral ceilings & large windows create lots of light & space. The ceiling fan keeps the air going for a comfortable time inside. The kitchenette with an induction cooktop is a great way to cook your own meal without heating up the entire space. Or, you can do traditional BBQ on the grill & enjoy the solitude of the trees. From the parking area, go down the set of stairs & walk straight back to the deck on the walkway on the side of the house.
The house is a duplex. The entry door is on the back deck. The front unit is separate so please do not use the front door! There are no shared walls with the second unit. There is a closet, hallway, & storage area between the 2 spaces.
The neighborhood is quiet & itâs about 5-7 minutes driving time to the Village.
Please make sure to follow the sign with arrows to West Victoria Court (not East Victoria Court). The address numbers are on the main post of the stairs as you park in front of the house. Walk along the side of the house through the gate to the back of the house for entry.
A generator is on site so there will be no annoying power outages that are so common in this area.
About the Area:
Lake Arrowhead, Lake Gregory, & Big Bear Lake are recreational lakes in the Southern California San Bernardino mountains. They offer fresh crisp air, cooler weather (10-15 degrees) in the summer, & snow in the winter. They also offer a more relaxed & low-key energy âvibeâ making them ideal locations for getaways to renew the mind, spirit, & body & to reconnect with family & friends.
We answer frequent questions regarding the lakes & have put together some information below on what makes each location unique so it is easier to match with your specific goals for your time away. Upon booking one of our properties, you will receive more detailed information on how you can spend your time in the area.
Big Bear Lake is a public lake & friendly to all types of boats & water sports & is the largest lake of the three. There is a short paved bike & walking trail that goes along the lake. Big Bear is a City & is more populated with stores, restaurants, & nightlife than the other two locations. It has more of a âdesertâ feel in terms of its topography. Big Bear is 26 miles up the mountain from Lake Arrowhead, Although none of our properties are in Big Bear, we recommend it for a day trip.
Lake Arrowhead is a private lake & is accessible to guests staying at properties with lake rights if the owners have permitted guests to use their ALA (Arrowhead Lake Association) passes. If this is the case, the Amenity âlake accessâ will be checked on the listing. In our list of properties, the Gingerbread Cottage is providing lake access. With lake access, specifically, the lake trail is accessible. There is a $10 per person per day fee that is required to be paid to receive a wristband for access. More information can be found on the ALA website. Swimming is allowed from the lake trail at any location except the beach clubs (these are restricted to owners). There is no ability to launch boats or SUPs on the lake. The Village is lakefront & is the main area for shops & restaurants & has a fitness center as well. The Queen boat is a tour boat on Lake Arrowhead that provides much of the history of the town - tickets can be purchased at the shop by the lake. There is a local company that offers water skiing lessons boat tours & rentals. This area has more of a small town & alpine feel to it. The Villas area (south side of the lake) in Lake Arrowhead is cooler & gets more snow that lasts longer than the north side of the lake which gets more sun in the winter & is hotter in the summer. The Villas area is an older area with older homes & narrower streets. The Tudor House is an event center offering Sunday brunch & a variety of events. Skypark is a local attraction as well as Snow Valley for skiing for both Lake Arrowhead & Lake Gregory. Lake Arrowhead is 15 minutes up the mountain from Lake Gregory.
Lake Gregory is a public lake in the town of Crestline, a small town about 20 minutes from the base of the mountain of San Bernardino. It is the closest mountain town to events & locations âdown the hillâ. In the past few years, the lake operations have become privately managed with significant improvements being done at the lake including the development of a water park, beach improvements, & boat, kayak, & canoe rentals. There is a fee to access the beach area & the water park & no fee to access the 2 1/2 mile trail around the lake. Fishing is allowed & more info can be found on the Lake Gregory website. Crestline has a small-town alpine feel with the lake nestled amongst the tall trees. Crestline gets less snow than the other 2 lake locations. The quaint town has restaurants, coffee shops, & thrift stores.
Twin Peaks/Blue Jay sits in between Crestline & Lake Arrowhead & is convenient to both lakes. It has its restaurants, shops, & thrift stores. It is famous for its outdoor farmerâs market on Thursday afternoons (seasonal). To make it more affordable for couples, a $12 additional guest fee per night applies after 2 people.
A BBQ is provided at the house, however, please be aware that we do not refill propane. We will reimburse you if you need to fill the propane. If you will arrive late, local stores may be closed or if it`s a holiday may run out of propane so it is advised to bring your own propane tank. if you plan to use the BBQ on the day of arrival.

The unit was just as described. Beautiful window view and at night can see the stars. Very well organized. I brought my two fur babies and they enjoyed it as well.
I loved this little place. It so beautiful and the perfect place to connect with nature. I really appreciated the beautiful view and the natural light throughout the day. Iâll be back!
It was nice quiet area with lots of tall trees.
The glass front is nice for scenery, but it won't let you sleep in late in the morning.
Some more blind or curtain option would be nice including the side window.
It was clean with more kitchen tools than we expected. It had small oven and rice cooker and blender as well.
Customer service contact was easy to reach and very responsive.
Only thing that needed extea attention was the grill and fire place were out of gas, and it took a while for the handyman to come and replace the gas tank for us. He was supposed to bring another tank next day, but he couldn't be reached the next day. We managed with moving around 1 tank from the grill to the fireplace, but those really should be checked before the guests arrive.
It was pet friendly property and our little pom enjoyed her stay as well.
We arrived with no parking. We found out from a nozy neighbor that there was a permanent tenant parked in spot. We called and waiting 30+ minutes before the person moved the car. We arrived and the inside smelled like smoke, there were no blinds for privacy on the windows so anyone could see right through and we could not see outside. It was pricey for the amount we are allowed in. We could only check in at 4:00 and if we happened to check in early we would be charged per hour. Most places let you check in around 1:00-2:00 and we had to checkout the next day by 10:00am (most places give you till 11:00-12:00. I feel we paid money to just go to sleep at night. Didn't get to enjoy the scenery because of check in time was to late and it was dark.
I didn't feel safe, with having the house converted with permanent residents living in front of the house. They had dogs, We could hear everything and they have poop bags stacked on the porch very unprofessional. Wont be staying here again.
My husband and I got out of the Arizona heat and spent 4 nights at this cute cabin. The patio was adorable and the inside was clean and inviting. We sat around the fire each night and chatted about life which is always my favorite time to just relax and reconnect. The neighborhood was quiet and we had a full moon so the views were amazing also! We enjoyed our stay.
Really nice place in a quiet neighborhood. Situated well so you can take loops for walks that are challenging after a long day but not advanced by any means. Quiet place, friendly neighbors and the check in process is most streamlined and straight forward. No issues. Will gladly return.
Excellent place for a romantic getaway! Beautiful lil Casita that feels like your in the woods with a large deck that open up from your room with bifolding doors! Its the best of both worlds. Living inside and out all in same place if you wish?! Super clean and accommodations and rental company went far beyond our expectations. We will for sure be returning again. We even extended a day it was so relaxing!!!!!
My partner and I needed a quick weekend getaway and this property/host more than accommodated us.
We loved looking out the wall of windows at the beautiful forest outside.
We greatly appreciated that this property is pet friendly so we were able to enjoy the weekend with our doggies.
No lights were on and it was completely dark when we arrived so it was very difficult to find the right key box. Stairs and walking path were covered with 4-6" of wet, slippery snow (although it had not snowed that day) which made it treacherous to get around. (Correction, the only lights on were large string lights in front of the house right in front of the house number.) We also had to do a little shoveling to be able to park safely out of the roadway.
We had to drive 10 mins back down to get a cell signal to ask for help in gaining entrance only to find a voicemail stating that someone would call back in the morning. When we DID get someone on the phone, she clearly responded that it was our fault that we couldn't figure out which key box to find the correct key in (in the pitch dark) because directions were clearly stated in the very long info listed in the VRBO app, which was problematic in the dark with no cell signal.
When we got inside, we found that all remotes needed new batteries, that we couldn't figure out how work the TV (no directions), and that there are reading lights above the bed whose switches we never found.
On the morning of our checkout, we tried to make English muffins in the toaster oven, but it set off the fire alarm which is hung so high we couldn't reach it to reset it. I guess the toaster oven needs to be wiped out so this doesn't happen to someone else?
Was the bed comfy? Yes. Good water pressure? Yes.
My husband and I stayed 2 nights and we loved this cabin! The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we slept well. The part I loved best was the large open deck with a pretty view of the trees. It felt like a cozy tree house in the in the middle of the woods. The white lights on the deck were a nice touch in the evenings. Located in a quiet neighborhood which was exactly what we needed to relax and destress. The home was acceptionally clean throughout with all the amenities you'll need. The home owner kept in touch with us during our stay. She was helpful and kind right from the time I booked our stay. Thank you Lisa! It was an amazing experience.
I recommend this awesome place.
Itâs a compact place however the extension into a large outdoor space made it magical. It was so peaceful and quiet as if we were camping out in the woods but in total luxury. Loved the large sliding doors (with screens if you prefer) that opens up into a large patio. The kitchen is one of the most complete Iâve ever seen in an VRBO/Airbnb with an air fryer, instant pot, rice cooker and even a lemon squeezer. This place is run by real professionals that has thought of everything. Canât wait to go back!
A wall of accordion windows, expansive deck, dog friendly, and beautiful views is what you get when staying here. Itâs absolutely wonderful! Itâs extremely clean, well organized, and each amenity has a functional use. Donât hesitate! Weâll be back for sure!
