Peaceful Lakefront Cottage

Lacus Vitae is our family’s happy place and we want to make it yours as well! Here you’ll find a newly remodeled lakefront cottage that allows you to truly enjoy all that Lake Waccamaw has to offer. Lake Waccamaw is the largest of the natural Carolina Bay lakes with a perfect pH.
Our lakefront home is located 39 miles west of Wilmington and only 35 minutes off I-95. Lake Waccamaw State Park is 6 miles away where you will find trails to hike and learn about the plants and animals that are only found in or around the lake, the boat landing is a mile from the house and the pier is right out the backdoor where you can sip coffee as you watch a beautiful sunrise or sit back and relax. Let us make our home yours, take a vacation and relax.

This is our favorite place to stay! Repeat guests! We love it! The view is outstanding! We spend a lot of time sitting on the dock admiring the beauty! We did notice a few minor issues like the back door feels like it is falling off the hinges, a few lights don’t work, and the ceiling fans are loose. But we definitely will be back again though !!

This was exactly what we were looking for; a cozy lake house to get away from things and fish. The kids had a blast. There was plenty of space for the four of us to hang out. There were games available and the smart tv made for a relaxing evening after fishing. The kids were very excited about the bunk beds as well! Town was close by and the grocery store had any odds and ends we forgot. Had great conversation with the neighbor two doors down as well. One tip for would be renters, the front door sticks a bit, don’t be like me and think the code didn’t work the first couple times
. Push hard. Check-in was seamless and the host was great in answering any questions. We lived our time at the house and would certainly look to book again!

What a lovely place! The lake is gorgeous and the area is quiet and not touristy at all. Very relaxing. The cottage has huge windows facing the lake with gorgeous views. The dock was a wonderful place to watch the sunrise in the morning and the stars overhead at night. We would definitely like to return at a different time of year to experience the lake in another season. It's a hidden gem!

Lake stay

This place is wonderful. The host is so nice and super quick to respond. The house is clean and comfortable and the lake is so quiet and relaxing. The swing on the dock is a dream. We look forward to this stay every summer.

Nice home but


The home was nice, exactly like the pictures. Needs some attention with the electrical in the kitchen. Sometimes the light over the sink would come on and sometimes not. The ceiling fan in the kitchen rattled so bad I thought it was going to fall. One of the light switches in the kitchen came out of the wall when I unplugged the coffee maker. The lights in the laundry area worked intermittently. After being there a few days I figured out the fan over the stove was worked by a light switch at the door. There were no closets in the house to hang clothes and no furniture in the bedrooms to put clothes in. There were no lamps in the living room so if you wanted light after it got dark you had to have the ceiling light on. Something going on with the foundation as well because the house is slanted down towards the lake. The pictures were very accurate but there are issues that the pictures can’t show. I would not stay here again.

Weekend Getaway

Excellent stay !!! Everything about this place was great .. Peaceful and tranquil. Place was as described. Host communication great. Location was excellent. If you’re looking for a Lake Waccamaw getaway . This is it ! Lake access was east and the added bonus of seeing the alligators cruise the canal across the street .. A great Lake Waccamaw find.

Repose At The Lake

This property was spectacular. It was perfect for what we needed: quiet, relaxing, bright, clean, and the calming view of the lake. Daniale our host was extremely responsive with any questions. The home is well stocked, and maintained. We loved it so much, we’ve rebooked an upcoming visit! The cleanliness of this wonderful cottage was well appreciated. Everything in working condition. We found it to be a very special experience. Our vehicle that we brought with us had broken down. It had to be towed. With everything we needed at the house, we were content to just hang out. Bob next door offered us use of his transportation. Wow!! Such incredible experience. Thank you to our host & and the amazing neighbors. Can’t wait to return!

Lake Time

This property is well kept, felt cozy and homey. Caught largemouth bass and brim from pier. Quaint little town, with wonderful seafood restaurant nearby.
