The Space:

Loburn Retreat - Water's Edge by Tiny Away sits in a quiet, rural location of South Island, New Zealand, just 12 minutes from the historic farming town of Rangiora and 43 minutes from the city of Christchurch. Our cozy tiny home conveniently located near popular attractions such as Waikuku Beach, a variety of restaurants and cafes in Rangiora, and the well-loved Ohoka Farmers' Market.



You’re also just 20 minutes from Pegasus Coast beaches and Willowbank Wildlife Reserve. The retreat sits on a sloped block and offers guests private access to a woodland area featuring a slackline, firepit teepee, labyrinth walk, and a shared space for games, art, and relaxation.



It's a 139-square-foot tiny house with easy water access, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent private bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas-heated for hot showers).



IMPORTANT NOTE: If you're booking for a group, we also have a second tiny home, "Loburn Retreat - Fireside by Tiny Away," available with 24 hours' notice. Campervan parking and Tent sites are also available.



Guest Access:

Guests have access to the tiny house and the surrounding areas. However, access to the main house, decking, and backpacker bus accommodation is restricted.



For the convenience of all guests, we provide clean, filtered drinking water and seasonal herbs for tea. Supermarkets are just a 10-minute drive away.



NOTICE TO ALL: Backpacker accommodation is located at the far end of the property, with limited interaction outside shared areas. Holiday homes sit on a quiet 100km no-through road, though some local or logging traffic may pass. Guests have access to all buildings and relaxation areas, which may be shared with a few others—your peace and privacy remain a priority.

Local favourites include Waikuku Beach, Karikaas Cheese, and Lemongrass Restaurant, all just minutes away in or near Loburn. For day trips, you can explore Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, Mt Thomas Forest, Castle Hill, or Hanmer Springs.



Getting Around:

By car:



- 10 mins, 10 km drive from Rangiora Township

- 20 mins,15 kms drive from Mt Thomas Forest

- 40 mins, 38 km drive to Christchurch City Centre,

- 20 mins drive, 17kms away from the beaches along the Pegasus Coastline



By public transport:



- No public transport in Loburn from Elemental.

- Pets not allowed

- Gas BBQ Grill is available

- Filtered water is provided

- Breakfast provisions can be provided with prior notice and at cost

- Mobile phone reception has a good signal

- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed

- The property has no animals other than house cats

- Recycling and compost bins are available for guests

- Complimentary firewood, kindling, and matches provided

- No smoking allowed inside, except outside the private spaces of the tiny home

- No Wi-fi available at Elemental, though the town library and local cafes have free Wi-fi

- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge.

Important note:



- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban

- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilets and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
