The School House has been created to feel âhome from homeâ
The School House was originally the dwelling for the school mistress for the village of Ford to the mid 1970âs and is attached to the school room. The cottage is situated on the estate on the edge of the village of Ford. It sits in an elevated position looking out over the fields to the farm and the woods behind. You can also see the village hall and two other properties on the other side of the road some distance away, so not completely on your own!
The property has a perfect layout for four guests with two large super-king or twin rooms with electric blankets, hair dryers, fitted cupboards and wool carpets. It has a large bathroom with large walk in Aqualisa shower and separate bath.
The kitchen has all you will need to cater for your holiday with dining area, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and oven with ceramic electric hob. Off the kitchen is a small utility with down stairs loo and washing machine.
The sitting room has a TV, docking station, DVD, wifi and log burner. Each room has interlined hand made curtains and elegantly decorated. There is also a log shed outside the back door with garden furniture and barbecue.
The cottage has a large garden which is mostly lawn with a Harhar dropping down to the quiet country lane. There are also extra out buildings for bike storage.
We have created a real âhome from homeâ which is available for short lets and we have a minimum stay of three nights. We try to keep to weekly lets from Friday to Friday in July and August but do inquire. We ask for an arrival after 5pm so we can get the School House fully prepared for your holiday.
The old school house has been very well updated. I was a little surprised that there was a road right in front of the property as from the description I was expecting to be a little more isolated. The road is a benefit for getting around, and a negative if you were expecting more seclusion. Angus and Willa were great hosts and helped with any needs we had. Loved exploring the area around Ford and would definitely return! Thanks for a great stay.
Very good indeed, one of the best, in fact THE best, places we've stayed in.
The School House was clean, very well appointed, had top quality appliances and all the extra accoutrements needed to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
Beautifully restored and very comfortable schoolhouse
Ederline Schoolhouse is a beautifully restored property with first rate features and exceptionally comfortable beds and lounge furniture. The owners were lovely, made us and our dog feel very welcome which made our stay special. The ability to be able to settle down in a comfy sofa or chair in front of a roaring log fire on a chilly wet evening after a day exploring was very welcome. The kitchen is enormous and was as well equipped as ours at home. The bathroom had a great shower and bath and was also beautifully fitted out. My only tiny gripe - bearing in mind the very wet weather during our stay - was the inability to dry our clothes after washing or a wet day out - although we could have taken them up to the main house. A drier or a couple of heated towel rails would be a great addition. Our dog loved the large garden.
