This is the review we wish we'd read before booking this property. In summary, if your kind of holiday involves being out partying to 3am every night, this apartment is absolutely ideal for you. If you'd rather be asleep before that time, we'd strongly advise looking elsewhere. The apartment itself was fine: clean, well equipped, with probably the most comfortable beds we've had in Portugal (they seem to like their mattresses firm). You could say that the photographer did a good job of making the place look a bit bigger than in reality, and the entrance - on a rear walkway shared with the back doors of all the businesses on the first floor - didn't exactly create a good impression. We were well aware that the property was smack in the middle of the bars and restaurants, so we took good ear plugs in expectation of noise. The problem is that the biggest source of noise in the vicinity - The Atlantic Bar - occupies a large part of the first floor of the same building. This establishment is quaintly billed online as a 'piano bar'. Forget Casablanca, though. The entertainment ranges from the usual piped music, to live acts and party nights, with the 'turn' leading a chorus of 150 inebriated Essex natives in raucous romps through the Robbie Williams catalogue. The bass from the sound system reverberated through the fabric of the building, making our ear plugs all but useless. We endured it for five nights before moving to a local hotel to salvage remains of our holiday.
