The lodge sat upon a beautiful mountain side where the rabbits romed freely. The long gravel road with twist and turns was an adventure for those in our party who never experince mountain side living but by the the time we left they were old pro's and were really enjoying their adventure. The decor made you feel relaxed and at home, with plenty of space for everyone. We all, all 23 of us enjoyed our visit & would love to roast marshmellows around the fire pit again as many enjoyed the hot tub at mid night. For anyone traveling with elderly or handicapped the main floor entrance was the best for us and I think with a few changes in the jack & jill bathroom would make this lodge a number 1 for all.
We went with a large group of 24 for the stay over the Memorial Day weekend. The property is huge and clean and quickly accomodated everyone. We loved that is was nestled a bit off the road so it made it easier with all the kids running around not being worried about disturbing any neighbors as well as it gave the adults the comfort to enjoy at our leisure. The path up to the property is a bit of a gravel terrain with a slightly steep down incline to the parking so it is definitely recommended to have an AWD or 4x4 which will help, as our host had pointed to us beforehand so it was easy for us to adjust accordingly. Having Melissa mention all the details that we needed to be aware of and prompt in her replies and help for any clarifications helped make the trip a well planned one. The only thing that the group had a bit of an issue with was the bandwidth of the wifi on the property as there is little to no network around and the wifi was the only lifeline but that being said it was sufficient enough to allow everyone to connect just enough to get their things done.
About 20 of us celebrated my bday and some other winter bdays and hit the casino! We loved this cabin. It was HUGE. The pics do not give it justice. We will def stay again.
The house was amazing and the perfect location for a Christmas family vacation. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking, and the house has ample room for a family of 12, the wrap around porch provides amazing views.
We had an awesome time at the house. It was a long weekend we have been looking forward to for months and it exceeded expectations. The only thing that could use improvement is a more functionable TV and outdoor grill. Other than that, 5 stars!
The location was very nice and the space certainly accommodated our party of 12. I liked the ability for all of us to be in the living room together. However, there were several items that should be addressed: There were 5 forks for the entire group. The property was dusty and and the widows were not cleaned well. The WiFi was not adequate for today's needs. We essentially had no or very little service during our stay. There were several items laying around the outside of the cabin that would have been dangerous to younger guests. The view from the front porch is beautiful! However, there was not enough furniture for the porch and the rocking chairs were loose. This property could be returned to top condition with a little TLC.
Overall we had a great time at this cabin. The pictures don't do it justice, it is HUGE. There was plenty of room for all 19 of us and the basement was amazing for all the kids. The house was clean and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed and more! The porches were amazing, the hot tub was great and you could hear a stream somewhere off in the woods! So relaxing! We went on the Polar Express while we were there. It was about 40 min drive but it was an easy to navigate to Bryson City from the cabins location. We also had a Christmas Vacation movie night and the living room couches easily fits us all!
My only complaints were that the paper products (TP, paper towels, hand soap, etc) were not included or guarunteed to be there. These items wound up being there (I'm assuming from past guest), but it would have been nice not to have to worry about bringing those types of items with us. I would not expect paper plates or cups to be provided but the others listed above should just be part of the rental in my opinion. Additionally, a few of the beds were squeaky and a bit uncomfortable. They could use an upgrade.
Other than those minor things, we had a wonderful time and would definitely stay again! The cabin was absolutely beautiful and the house allowed for our whole family to enjoy spending time together to kick of the holiday season!
This is a beautiful property. The pictures don't do it justice.
Well maintained, with a fully stocked kitchen. Large rooms and clean from top to bottom. Our family vacation was a huge success!
All the outdoor decks provided peaceful outdoor seating.
The only down thing was the long gravel driveway, but that wasn't much of a problem.
The resident woodchuck that lives behind the waterfall was very entertaining!
We would all recommend this property.
The pictures shown with the listing are not recent. The house was/is in major need of attention. Lots of things are worn out: towels, coffee cups, comforters, etc- we replaced light bulbs- worked on wiring- fixed the stoveâŠ.The internet, Dish, nor landline worked the length of our stay.
The air conditioning controls (all 4 of them) were in lock boxes and we had no key or way to access. We used coat hangers to change the temp (they were all set on 80 upon arrival). Only one room in the house had air that worked. We were told the air was working when it was set on 67 and the inside temp was 80. We contacted the property management numerous times and it was not until on our way home we felt our concerns were truly addressed. I texted the PM one last time on the way home and she did offer a partial refund. The house has wonderful potential. We loved the location- end of town, not too far from Joeyâs. We loved the layout with all the space. The wrap around porch is great - porch swing and all!! The house is just not in condition to be rented. The PM did say she was going to address the issues.
Before you rent- ask lots of questions- Make sure you are actually getting what you see.
The lodge was bigger then expected with more then enough room for 16 adults to spread out and do their own thing. We held our wedding on Thanksgiving and the lodge made the event even more intimate and special. The beds were very comfortable, linens were stocked, kitchen had what we needed (may need to be clean out some broken items). We did have an issue with the stove but a repair man was sent immediately and they are k care of what he could and then sent the gas company to fix the pilot light. Very responsive. Overall it was a fantastic time and all said they would go back again.
Great property for a family reunion! We ranged in age from 18 months to 80 years, and everyone loved the house. It is very remote, but that adds to the charm. Just be prepared for a bit of a drive if you need to make a grocery store run. We went in October , and the leaves were beautiful!
This is an amazing property! Spacious and inviting, the house worked well for a large family group. The ONLY complaint we have is regarding technology. We had absolutely no cell service and the internet was totally insufficient. We were all there for a wedding, and coordinating activities, restaurant reservations, transportation, meeting times, etc. was difficult. In addition a few in the group had to check in with work and send a couple of emails. Those folks had to go in to Maggie Valley and find decent connections to complete a few work tasks.
We were 23 total ranging from grandparents to 2 years old. The multiple floors, the game room, and the hot tub were the highlights. The a/c went out while we were there and the owner came right over to help resolve the issue.
One mouse was spotted by the fireplace on the main floor one night about mid stay.
The driveway proved very tricky to get in and out of for us flat landers. The 15 passenger 2-wheel drive nearly got stuck a few times. The listing says a 4x4 access but 2-wheel drives can get out with low gear but the gravel makes it very tricky. Really hope the owner considers paving the steep grade and putting traction lines down. Great place to get away from it all for large groups. Wifi and cell service was minimal for both AT&T and Verizon phones which was perfect for us to keep the teenager off their phones.
Other than the few downsides, this was a perfect place for out family getaway. Highly recommended.
We had a great experience from booking through the end of our stay. Responses to our chat messages were very quick and helpful. The size of the home and all the space on each floor really surprised us. There were 24 of us and it really was perfect in so many ways. There arenât as many options for large groups to stay under one roof and we were thankful for this one as it had so much space everyone was very happy. We would recommend and would definitely stay here again. Thank you to the owner and management company!
Great house for our large family. We designate the two bunk bed rooms, one boys and one girls.
Ending was easy. Host was quick to respond until the day the rental was supposed to start. No one was at the office and host did not answer text until around 4 pm. We just happened to check the Red Box to find instructions. Which we thought was for after hours check in. We thought we would also find a key. There is no key. Only a code to a lock. Which was fine but would have been. Ice to know in advance. Check out instructions say to turn in a key. No key so we sent a message to host to say we were out.
We saw this house and were instantly attracted to size and layout. Photos of the house show it in its hay day. But when we arrived immediately noticed the wear and tear on this house. Itâs definitely seen better days. Putting aside the esthetics, it doesnât matter how worn out a property is the cleanliness should never be compromised, but this house is very poorly kept. Iâm not sure who they use for a cleaning company but they shouldnât use them anymore. We found a lot of dirty areas around the big house, I found piles of dirt that looked like someone swept but failed to pick up. There were noticeable stains and mildew in master bath and other areas were just really run down and dirty, it did not instill confidence that your sleeping and staying in a clean house.. Scuff walls and broken furniture, carpet stains etc,. Kitchen and common areas were not maintained properly. Also wifi was very slow and inconsistent and since there was no cell reception on the mountain, makes it very inconvenient to stay connected, The house has such amazing potential, but the experience was ruined by poor maintenance. I wouldnât recommend staying here until they renovate and change cleaning standards.
Great home with lots of nature, privacy and mountains around it, but lacking some maintenance....
Overall excellent , with some minor maintenance / repairs and proper 2020 internet it could be perfect . Melissa is very responsive and quick with answers.
Driveway and Access road are fine but SUV is a must , FWD vehicles did fine getting in and out .
Ton of space , comfort, stunning mountain valley location with steep mountains around and above giving it great feel .
Internet is a joke, huge letdown, basic cellphone apps do not work , speeds are like 1990s and it can barely open emails.
We paid 5000usd per week and could pay extra fee for Starlink and it's speed of internet. No cell signal so poor internet is even bigger issue .....Amazing home, lacking few easy fixes for perfection .... Overall highly recommended!
Everything was beautiful would love to come back very modern and updated. Had problems with nasty dishes, lady bugs in master bathroom, saw two rats in the kitchen and on in the fire place, left over clothes from someone else by the hot tube along with beer cans. Cleaned everything up ourselves really disappointed in the cleanliness part.
This house was awesome. We had 27 people with plenty of room for people to gather and still enough room to find peace and quiet. I would definitely rent it again.
This was a very poor experience for my friends and I. We had no heat fir our entire 4 day stay. The guys who came out didnât help and were very late arriving every time. On the 3rd day the sewer started backing up in the toilets and bathrooms downstairs. Took an entire day to get someone out there. We could not shower or use water. They said the septic would need replaced but they emptied enough for the remainder of our stay. As soon as someone showered (upstairs) it did the same thing. It was a very frustrating trip to say the least. The neighbors were very helpful in trying to get help out there but the help took forever. There was NO cell service so communication was tough. There was a home phone that contacted some management company. But then they had to contact the owners who then had to contact others. The whole process was just not handled well. It should not be that hard to reach people. The house is beautiful but not well maintained. Many things were broken and Iâm not sure the last time someone was there to clean. Until things are fixed and thereâs any easier way of getting help to the cabin, I would not suggest renting this home.
