Relaxing Hawaiian Suite for a Exiting Getaway in the Upcountry of Maui!

The Makani suite is named after the wonderful trade winds we receive here on Maui! Enjoy the breeze in the front lanai rocking chairs while sipping your cup of coffee. Though this is our economy suite it is spacious and has all the comforts and amenities. Designed in a traditional Hawaiian décor, this room has a relaxing feel. The spa-like bath with its dual shower rain head will rejuvenate you after a long day of adventures. Sleep comfortably on the queen size bed and lounge in the living space with a comfortable love seat and reading nook. It has a small kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine and all the utensils you will need. This room is great for couples traveling on a budget but still want the amenities of a high-end accommodation.

So quiet and peaceful! Our studio room was large, clean, and tasteful, with a generous welcoming food basket. Breakfasts were lovely! We had enjoyable talks with both owners, and their friendly, generous five-year-old daughter, and visited with their rescue deer, goats, and miniature donkeys.Staying in this upcountry setting made it much easier to drive up to the summit of Haleakala, and see some native birdsat Hosmer’s Grove.We will certainly come again!Laura and George

Amazing Experience! This B&B Was Phenomenal!

Our experience staying in here was fantastic! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and special. The property is beautiful, curated with great taste and makes you feel like a VIP with every little detail. Extremely clean and well maintained, they think of everything you might need for an amazing vacation and they provide it for you. Beach towels, beach chairs, pool towels, cooler, snacks in the room, a bottle of sparkling wine, and a Maui Gold pineapple (!) are part of the welcome package when you arrive. The breakfast is delicious, and you enjoy it with a great view! The pool is heated and the hot tub is a great way to relax after a day of hiking. This felt more luxury and curated than the fancy resort we stayed at just a few days before. But I also enjoyed the quiet and independence we had at the property. And with a total of 4 rooms, it never feels crowded. We would definitely come back to this place and we are already recommending it to all our friends! Thanks for a great stay!

Exactly as described

We stayed in the Makani suite and everything was as expected. Very comfortable bed, which is very important when staying away. It's quite high up from the coast, we were seeing about a 10-15 (F) degree temperature drop from the coast which was just about OK when we were there but would be beneficial in summer. The breakfast was fixed menu options (different each day) and was delicious but this might not suit everyone. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. If you don't have a satnav, research the route beforehand because it's a bit out of the way and we got lost a couple of times. Very nice place, we would recommend.

Perfect 3 days!

We spent a perfect 3 days at the North Shore Lookout. Their breakfasts were amazing as was the outdoor hot tub spa. Views overlooking the south shore were incredible, they are nestled in the upcountry away from hustle and bustle of touristy Maui. We enjoyed every minute. Mahalo!

AMAZING getaway location!

Our stay here was amazing! My cousin and I chose to vacation on Maui for a relaxing getaway and this B&B did not disappoint! The location is removed from the hustle and bustle, so we felt a little secluded (in the best way). It was quiet, and the view is stunning. The grounds are beautiful and incredibly inviting. We spent time by the pool, in the hot tub, and sitting by the fire pit soaking up the amazing weather and overall atmosphere. Since the location is more centrally located, it was easy to get to other areas of the island for the day. Our hosts had wonderful suggestions for beaches, restaurants, etc. Which brings me to the staff!!! They are WONDERFUL! So kind and welcoming. We were greeted with a welcome bag that had beach towels and a custom tag with our names. They were very communicative and clear about any instructions to check in, operate things arrive the property, etc. I cannot stress this enough... The breakfast is AMAZING. We genuinely looked forward to it every morning. Lattes, smoothies, and always a delicious, freshly made breakfast item. We were blown away. Our room (Makani) was clean, spacious, and well stocked. The "kitchen" area had everything we needed and they had complimentarily snacks and drinks waiting for us. Our room also had two beach chairs, a beach umbrella, and an insulated lunchbox for us to use. There was so much attention to detail that we greatly appreciated. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend staying here. I definitely hope to return!

Best B&B Ever!

I almost don’t want to share for fear of not being able to book it when I want it next go around but this place was too good to keep to myself. We could not find one thing to be dissatisfied with. The ow era did a great job of anticipating guest needs and desires and making sure they were met. Little details down to “aloha” written in the stored blanket on the closet shelf made this stay magical! You will not be disappointed with your experience here.

Secret Hideaway

Hands-down the best location, best accommodations, over the top attention to detail, love the owners and Mimi the kitty! Our go to place the next time we are in Maui! We needed to get away from life and some peaceful reset the soul days. Just a suggestion that if you have kids please do not book this as most people are here on honeymoon or to get away from the typical screaming kids at the resorts pools. There's a place for everyone and this was it for us so thank you to the hosts we could not have asked for a more perfect place!

Northshore Lookout has been one of the best Bed and Breakfasts that I have stayed at. The host were wonderful and the room met our every need. The room and property were exceptional, and the scenery was breathtaking! We will be staying here again when we return to Maui

North Shore Lookout was everything I was expecting and more. The location and the ground were lovely. My room the Makani suite was very comfortable and perfect for me. My cousins who swung by before heading to the airport thought North Shore Lookout was beautiful also. I will stay here for a portion of my next trip to Hawaii which I hope will be within the next 5 years. The owners Shannan and Josh were very pleasant and most accommodating.

Thoroughly Enjoyable Experience

Josh and Shannon made for an experience that was over the top, starting with the thoughtful welcome bag. Breakfasts were delicious and as healthy as one would like. I really enjoyed my personal latte made by Josh every morning. While we enjoyed the pool and hot tub with a beautiful view to the waves on the North Shore, we loved sharing wine in the evenings by the fire pit with other guests. We put our personal beach chairs and umbrella (in our room) to great use. I can’t image a better place to relax for a few days in the Upcountry.

Wonderful Gem on the North Shore of Maui

Peaceful, isolated and wonderful B&B

If you’re looking for an amazing B&B in the upcountry area of Maui in Makawao, please check out this place. We stayed here the last three nights and the accommodations are wonderful. It’s really isolated and peaceful. You’ll have to drive really slow especially at night to get there but you’ll definitely enjoy your stay. Josh and Shannen, the owners, have done an amazing job with this place. It’s only been open for a year. The only disappointment we had was that it uncharacteristically rained the entire time we were there so we didn’t get to fully appreciate all the amenities. We’ll definitely come back and stay with them again.

Josh & Shannan are the best! They have literally thought of everything you might possibly need or want during your stay with them. The place is gorgeous, beautifully decorated, away from the hustle amd bustle, but still a short drive to the beach. Breakfast was always delicious. Felt spoiled from the moment we arrived!

We loved everything about our stay in the Makani Suite at the North Shore Lookout. The property is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures. The suite was beautifully decorated. The bed was so comfortable and the shower was awesome. There was a fridge to keep food in, a microwave and coffee maker. The kitchenette was well stocked. They even provided plastic containers and ziploc bags so you could pack a lunch in the cooler they provided. There was ice in the freezer. They provide coffee and tea and sugar, fresh water in a britta jug. Each room has it's own beach chairs, umbrella, snorkel gear and towels. They have guide books, maps and hiking books. The location is great for exploring the upcountry, Haleakala and the road to Hana. It is only 45 minutes to the great beaches and snorkelling south of Kihei if that is your preference. The pool and hot tub are beautiful. You can sit in the hot tub and watch the sunset. There are lots of great sitting areas outside and gas fireplaces. There is a beautiful covered eating area with a BBQ. We ate all our own prepared suppers in this area and enjoyed the quiet evening and beautiful views. So many stars to gaze at once night falls. It was quiet and so peaceful at the North Shore lookout. Shannan and Josh were both lovely and very accomodating. They are easy to get a hold of if you need anything. We enjoyed our chats every morning at breakfast. The continental breakfast was great... granola, yoghurt, boiled eggs, croissants, bagels, the fresh pineapple loaf was my favourite. They will make you fresh smoothies and wellness shots. We had yummy waffles one morning. Fresh fruit was varied each day, almond butter, jams. So much choice. We enjoyed our chats with the other guest at breakfast as well. I highly recommend North Shore Lookout to anyone travelling to Maui. We felt like we were at a spa from the minute we arrived.
