A lovely, friendly hotel with good food

A lovely, friendly hotel. Our room, on the first floor, was recently refurbished and the hotel was about to close for three weeks to complete the upper floor. We ate in the restaurant both nights of our stay and the food was excellent, as was the locally sourced wine. Breakfast each day was buffet service with a good selection of foods. A lovely place to stay with an outdoor pool for relaxing after a long hot walk. There is a small supermarket very nearby which is great for picking up provisions for lunch on the move.

My family had an amazing stay with Hotel Berne! We loved the breakfast!! They also serve lunch and dinner, which is very convenient and delicious. The family who owns the place is very friendly. If you are planing your trip to Serra da Estrela, this is the place to stay!

The front desk was very helpful in planning our departure route towards Covilla and made sure we went to the top. In spite of her limited English skills, our waitress worked very hard to help with our meal selections and providing directions to the local cheese merchant.

Great breakfast with a beautiful view!

The hotel was very spacious and the owners were very nice. They gave us an upgrade on our room and it was very spacious and quiet for our family of four. It was also very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was by far the highlight! Delicious, fresh and a great variety with an absolutely gorgeous view! The only downfall for us was that their dinner menu was very expensive for a family. We looked up a couple of restaurants that were supposed to be open near by but they were closed. Maybe they are only open during high season. We drove into Manteigas and that restaurant was closed as well. So be prepared to pay more for dinner at the Hotel or check ahead of time what else will be open.

Nice and friendly hotel in lovely location.

Great location, friendly staff, nice food. Room had a balcony looking onto the rest of the village and the mountains and forest on the other side of the hill. Had a games room with a pool table and chess/card table, occupied us before dinner.

Nice stay in the foothills of rural Portugal. Food was good in the restaurant. For some reason they felt compelled to ask for one Euro for Wifi access. This is the only hotel that requested any type of payment for this service.
