House of Windsor by Ready Set Stay - Kings Domain - Fully Fenced and WIFI
Better than a 5-star hotel - Free high-speed WIFI, Netflix and parking.
Melbourne is continually voted the most liveable city in the world, and Windsor is the diamond in its crown. From dining to shopping and nightlife, Windsor has it all.
Nestled in a quiet and peaceful street, but only a 2-minute stroll to the famous Chapel Street. Within walking distance to trams and trains, and The Avenue Hospital.
THE SPACE The King's Domain at the House of Windsor is one of two self-contained homes.
Why book just another apartment in a big block with no views when, for the same price, you can stay at The House of Windsor?
The King's Domain, the entire ground-floor apartment, represents open-plan living at its most stylish and luxurious and sleeps 4. This townhouse is fitted to the highest standard of appointments and luxury fittings, ideally suited to extended bookings, including hotel-quality, starched, and laundered bed linen.
I also have a one-bedroom apartment on the first floor that sleeps 4, which you can view by visiting my profile attached to this listing. Both apartments are fitted out to the same exceptionally high standard.
At about 100 SQ/M, the space is about 75% larger than other apartments in multi-unit developments and nearly four times the size of a standard hotel room, yet well under half the price.
The townhouse features extra-high ceilings and open-plan living, dining, and entertaining spaces, with custom steel-framed doors that open onto a fabulous front courtyard.
The gourmet kitchen, designed for entertaining, features an induction cooktop, a full oven, and a butler's pantry. It also has a full-size fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer, and dryer.
The townhouse features reverse-cycle air-conditioning and an excellent gas fire.
Unlike other listings that are often not much bigger than studio apartments in large blocks of hundreds of units, this is your own space in a low-rise neighbourhood of local homes, not tourists or student accommodation.
This is an ample open-plan space with two bedrooms, each with a queen bed.
The bathroom has two toilets and hand basins, separated by 4/5 metres. Between the two toilets, there is a massive rainhead shower. The shower has floor-to-ceiling frosted glass. It is designed so that someone can use the battery and leave one side, while someone else can use the bathroom on the other side or enter the rain when vacant. You must wait until the other side is free if total privacy is required.
The house is on a residential street with permanent tenants nearby, so we rent only to mature guests who will remain respectful of our neighbours. The house will be used for relaxation-style holidaying; loud parties are prohibited.
GUEST ACCESS You will have access to the entire unit with a private entrance.
BEDROOM CONFIGURATION Bedroom 1: Queen bed (2 guests) Bedroom 2: Queen bed (2 guests)
GUEST INTERACTION Should you have any questions, we're fully contactable before, during, and after your stay. We will also respect your privacy and let you enjoy yourselves!
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE Limited parking is available down a dead-end street, but finding a park isn't usually a problem. We will supply you with one parking permit for the home.
GETTING AROUND The Sky Bus runs every 10 minutes to/from the airport to Spencer St. $18 O/W $35 RT. The trip takes 20 minutes. You can then catch a train or tram to the House of Windsor. Google Maps and the PTV app are great tools for navigating Melbourne's public transport.
Sky Bus also runs a service from the airport to/from St Kilda. This is the same price point and a better/cheaper option. However, it only runs every 30 minutes between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. I'd suggest installing the Uber app to get an Uber to the House of Windsor. It would only take a few minutes from the Sky Bus stop in St Kilda.
Myki—a public transport card- is used on all trains, trams, and buses. The CBD is a free travel zone, and Windsor is in the area. A 2-hour pass costs $4.10, and a full day is $8.2. Myki cards can be purchased at many convenience stores. 7-Eleven stores seem the most common and easiest to remember; the closest one is on the corner of Chapel and High Street. Myki cards can't be purchased on board.
The best tram route is the number 6 Glen Iris line, getting off one stop past Chapel St. If you aren't rushed for time, the number 6 tram is an excellent option as it takes you past loads of Melbourne's best landmarks: Bourke St Mall, Flinders St Station, the Yarra River, Fed Square, the Arts Centre, and the Shrine Royal Domain. Just catch a tram first along Bourke St and transfer to number 6 at the stop after the Bourke St Mall.
The closest train stations are Windsor and Prahran, which are the same distance away, and they are on the Sandringham line.
Taxis and ride-sharing services to/from the airport cost about $50- $75, depending on traffic. They take 30 minutes off-peak, but approximately 45 minutes in peak traffic.
ADDITIONAL RULES Strictly no schoolies, parties or events. Mature guests only. The property is patrolled by security. If neighbours complain or the police are called, this could affect your bond, and we reserve the right to evict guests.
Bookings can only be confirmed once the verification process is complete.
Please read and accept our terms and conditions. Council Short Stay Accommodation Code of Conduct rules apply.
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS Access details will be available for you to enter directly at home. Unfortunately, we do not get a chance to meet, but this provides a convenient and straightforward way for you to enter and depart the house quickly. We can be contacted via the booking platform at any time during your stay, and we will send you our office number if you need us urgently. We want to ensure your visit is enjoyable. Thank you.
We don't like rules ourselves. However, this is a multimillion-dollar apartment, and sadly, we have only one bad incident that involved people using drugs on the property, so we hope you understand our caution.
One/ ABSOLUTELY no parties or events.
Any breach will result in the forfeiture of the security bond in full. The police will be called, and you will be asked to leave.
Two/ Without prior approval, only registered guests can be on the property anytime.
3/ No smoking inside. No smoking on the rooftop terrace.
At no time must any noise emanate or be heard outside of your apartment. We live near our neighbours, and if we get one complaint from them or guests staying in the other apartment, you will be asked to cease the noise. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of the entire security bond, and the police will be called.
Pet Policy: The apartment is pet-friendly, but strict conditions apply. Dog owners, please note that it is suitable only for one small dog.
You must request permission before you book, and any damage or additional cleaning costs will be recovered. If your dog sheds, an extra cleaning charge will apply. Our preference is for a small dog, but others may be considered on request.
Your booking may be cancelled if you have a dog and do not seek permission prior.
If your dog barks and we get a complaint from neighbours, you will be asked to leave, and your booking will be cancelled. We hate to be so strict; we are dog owners, but we have had too many instances of damage being caused, and neighbours have been lodging complaints with the council.
By proceeding with your booking, you agree to these conditions.
NEIGHBOURHOOD The neighbourhood is safe and family friendly. Your guest guidebook/house manual (linked in your welcome message) also includes recommendations on things to do in the area, dining options, and local attractions. A QR code for the manual is also available at the property. If you need any guidance, reach out to our team, we are happy to help.
If you have requests for specific accessibility needs, please contact the property using the information on the reservation confirmation received after booking.

Kudos to the host and a big compliment to the property. Absolutely on point with the details stated in the website. Did not disappoint. We could not decide whether to cook in the property’s excellent kitchen or to enjoy the awesome restaurants in upbeat Chapel street just 6 minutes walk. Thank you for having us! Cheers!

Windsor Stay
The property was clean and comfortable and was well located. The quirkiness of the decor was an unexpected bonus.
The accommodation was great for a couple or small family (who are used to living together) but the configuration of the bathroom and second bedroom would make it not as appealing for other types of guests.

Fantastic property with lovely touches including a bottle of wine and enough toilet paper for the entire stay. We enjoyed the dog park and local cafes and restuarants which were moments away.

Lovely short stay
We stayed at House of Windsor for 4 nights and enjoyed the business of chapel street and the quietness of the accommodation a short stroll away. The house was tidy and comfortable, with a cosy fire place and open living area. It was a little breezy with wind coming through the front door and a bedroom door opening in the middle of the night but it was also very windy during our stay. All in all an enjoyable stay.

Great location and hosts
You can’t beat the location of this property, very close to chapel street, public transport and local coffee shops/eateries.
The hosts were excellent - welcoming and responsive whenever we had questions.
The property is as advertised. Lacks a bit of privacy between the two bedrooms and a shared shower but otherwise great.

House of Windsor
We originally booked for ourselves & daughter & partner but on arrival soon realised this wouldn’t work due to the lack of privacy in the ‘2nd’ bedroom & had to then pay for an hotel room for them. Think should probably be advised as a 1 bedroom or for a ‘girls or boys’ only get away! The accommodation is quirky & close to Chapel St & restaurants etc which is great .

Perfect for Families
The House of Windsor was the perfect for our family getaway to Melbourne. The added luxury touches made our stay very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with a large fridge, the queen beds are very comfortable with lovely soft cotton linen and the warmth from the gas fire heater was quite cozy. Its location was great! It’s close to the shops and cafes on Chapel, has a playground over the road and is a 6 minute walk to the train station. I highly recommend this accommodation for your next trip to Melbourne!

Quirky stay
We selected this place for the location (perfect for Chapel St) and for the spacious living area with lots of windows. Lovely.
We stayed in the ground floor unit for a week.
The photos are pretty accurate.
We enjoyed our stay and would rebook despite the comments I have listed below.
There is one split system air conditioner in the living room which is meant to be effective for the entire unit. Our first night was uncomfortably warm as the air conditioning did not cool adequately. I wouldn’t like to be there in a heatwave. Future nights we slept with the door open in the main bedroom to a little secure courtyard.
There are some significant negatives about the place which would not be an issue if you were only there as a couple. (We got used to them during our one week stay with our adult son and his partner)
Second bedroom is actually just a space carved off the living space. The wall between the 2nd bedroom and living space is a clear Perspex screen with the British flag in front of it to give some degree of privacy. There is no door separating the 2nd bedroom from the living room.
There is a Perspex screen door between the main bedroom and the 2nd bedroom.
Means if one room has the light on, the light affects the adjoining bedroom. It also means there is no auditory privacy between the 2 bedrooms.
The bathroom is unusual. It is a 1 metre wide space with 2 toilets and vanities separated by a shared shower space. No real privacy for anyone. The bathroom has 2 entries (one at each end of the shower) with timber barn doors as sliders. The sliders didn’t always stay closed and you could be sitting on the toilet and the door rolls open 30cm.
The wardrobe in the main bedroom has only shelves available. The doors that would hold the hanging space were locked by the owners.
The second bedroom has bedside tables but no other space for clothes.
Laundry was good with washer and dryer.
Kitchen well equipped but ovens were dirty.
The blurb advertises a shared bbq on the rooftop. The rooftop space is empty.
The living space was the highlight of the place and was perfect for sitting around and relaxing.
Linen was clean. Beds were comfortable.
Enjoyed our stay from 21/12/2921-28/12/2021
