Calistoga Creek Side Mountain Estate
Tucked into the eastern hills between Calistoga and Middletown, the Calistoga Creekside Mountain Estate is one of the most distinctive large-group retreats in all of Northern California wine country. Set on expansive private grounds with a creek, hiking trails, a pool, and nearly 7,000 square feet of thoughtfully curated living space, this is a property that rewards the guests who seek something far beyond the ordinary.
The main house was designed with the art of gathering in mind. A sprawling open kitchen â outfitted with top-of-the-line appliances â flows into generous dining and living areas anchored by a wood-burning fireplace. Ralph Lauren Home furnishings throughout strike the precise tone this setting demands: luxurious, warm, and completely at ease in the mountains.
The guest cottage is a world unto itself. Designed by acclaimed architect Mark Appleton and built using timbers and stone sourced directly from the property, it evokes the quiet elegance of the English countryside. Venetian plaster walls, solid walnut floors, and Waterworks bathroom fixtures make this one of the most beautifully appointed guest accommodations you'll find anywhere in Napa Valley â a true retreat within a retreat.
For evenings in, the "Bunk Barn" delivers. This designer game room features an 85-inch home theater with high-definition surround sound and a pool table, with direct access to the pool area â making it the natural gathering point after a long day of wine tasting.
Outside, the property unfolds across a landscape that feels entirely removed from the everyday. A private creek meanders through the grounds, forming a summer beach perfect for lazy afternoons. Hiking trails wind up the hillside behind the estate. The pool area invites long, sun-warmed gatherings. And at night, the silence and the stars remind you exactly why you came.
Despite the sense of total seclusion, Calistoga's world-class spas, restaurants, and tasting rooms are just minutes away â and Mayastoga's concierge team is on hand to arrange everything from private winery tours and chef dinners to wine pairing experiences and local adventures for guests of all ages.
Accommodating up to 18 guests across seven bedrooms, this estate is the definitive choice for milestone celebrations, multi-family retreats, corporate gatherings, and anyone who simply refuses to compromise on the experience.
Really beautiful property and so spacious! Overall, the agency was helpful as they sent a maintenance team on Christmas Eve to help repair some plumbing issues. However, prior to that, they were unresponsive to most messages so I think that can be improved.
Beautiful property, stunning views, nature and lots of privacy, the estate is 5/5. Unfortunately the host was very challenging to deal with, not responsive and dishonest, perhaps she's new to hosting luxury rentals and can improve in the future.
We booked this house for our extended family and it provided the perfect setting to share time together and also have privacy. There are so many wonderful places to enjoy, including a pools f hot tub. The barn was fantastic for my 20 yer old sons who loved the pool table. We loved all of it.
The Calistoga Creek Side Mountain Estate is a beautiful property offering many opportunities to explore nature, relax inside and out, and experience the local town of Calistoga. Set on 39 acres with a stream running throughout, the property boasts several outside eating/sitting areas and a large grassy space where guests can play croquet, badminton, etc. The kitchen is generously appointed with small appliances, dinnerware, and everything else needed to cook for a large group.
The main house's interior is spacious and comfortable, and my family agreed the beds and linens were some of the most luxurious we've ever experienced. The huge bunkhouse is a fun, interestingly designed space with a big-screen TV, pool table, and arcade-type games. The quaint cottage offers a lovely living space and provides an extra place for solitude if needed.
We did encounter a few things that didn't work properly and caused some inconvenience. However, the owner and property manager were very communicative and responsive to our concerns and questions, and they diligently tried to fix the issues as best they could. Unfortunately, some were not fixable during our stay.
The Mountain Estate is a perfect "get there and stay there" vacation property. As heading north on Hwy 29 from Calistoga is quite winding, I recommend having all meals in-house and allowing enough time to experience the property's full potential.
