Welcome to the Mermaid Cottage!
This wonderful 3 bedroom, 3 bath beach cottage is located in the beautiful Cottage Retreat Community of Destin Florida. We invite you and your family to stay in our wonderful cottage for a week in paradise! If you like sugar-white sand, emerald waters and swaying palms, you will love this community.

The cottages in Cottage Retreat are quaint reminders of days gone by with front porches, and bright decorative colors, with the entire community built on a cul-de-sac.

Our cottage comes equipped with all of the comforts of home and possibly a few more! This home has 3 bedrooms, beautifully furnished and all the comforts of home. This home features a wrap-around deck on the first floor, and the second floor has a balcony for enjoying fresh evening breezes. The beach walkover is a short 2 minute stroll to the sugar white sand and emerald waters of the Gulf. Our home is in a perfect location. You will want to return year after year!


What to do in Destin besides enjoy our beaches!: Should you wish to explore what the local area has to offer, you'll find an abundance of choices. Sidewalks line scenic 98 for walking, running or bike riding. We are a short 2 mile drive to the Silver Sands mall to the West, or luxury shopping at Destin Commons to the East. Kenny D's, The Crab Trap, and Pompano Joe's are all within walking distance to Cayenne Cottage. We encourage you to leave menurs of your favorite restaurants when you come.

For evening entertainment, Destin is known for some wonderfully upscale eateries, as well as your regular fare. Friendly night life and nearby state of the art movie theater.

Do you like to shop?: The Silver Sands Outlet Mall is a vacation in it’s own right for shoppers you will have access to over 100 stores, including, Polo Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Liz Claiborne, Tommy Hilfiger, Lenox, Nike and Reebok - just to name a few. When you need to pause for nourishment choose from Panera Bread, Cheeseburger in Paradise or Carrabba's Italian Grill.

More great shopping can be found at the Destin Commons outdoor mall. Enjoy such great stores as Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic, Belk, Books-A-Million & Maui Nix Surf Shop to rattle off a few. Stop for a bite to eat at the Hard Rock Café, Panera Bread, Tony’s Ristorante or Sushi Siam. More than just shopping the Destin Commons Center Plaza offers a soft-play kids playground and a 49-head pop fountain. Community activities and entertainment are held through the year at Destin Commons . Rave Motion Pictures is also housed at Destin Commons to catch the latest releases.

We just wrapped up an amazing week at Mermaid Cottage and honestly, it exceeded every expectation! This charming cottage in the peaceful Beach/Cottage Retreat community felt like a true home away from home from the moment we arrived. The house was spotless upon check-in, everything sparkling clean, well-stocked with kitchen essentials, fresh linens, and thoughtful touches that made settling in effortless. The layout is perfect for families or small groups: comfortable beds, plenty of seating in the living area, and a nice veranda/porch to enjoy morning coffee or evening breezes. Location-wise, it's unbeatable. The beach access is an easy, short walk, and the heated pool and hot tub is centrally located as well. The owners clearly care about their guests, quick communication, great recommendations for local spots, and little details that showed thoughtfulness. We cooked most meals at the house (kitchen has everything you need) and still enjoyed the area's fresh seafood nearby.If you're looking for a cozy, well-maintained beach cottage in Miramar Beach that delivers on comfort, convenience, and that classic Florida coastal charm, Mermaid Cottage is it. Mermaid Cottage is a beautifully decorated home in a great location close to everything. The bedrooms are spacious with plenty of room for your things. The bathroom towels and beach towels are nice and absorbent. I believe it is one of the cleanest houses I’ve ever rented. It is a very comfortable home away from home! I would definitely rent it again.

Relaxing vacation

Mermaid Cottage, is a beautiful house and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The home is located right across from the beach which made the walk over super easy. The pool is fantastic and was kept clean. The community is quiet/safe and dog friendly which we loved! We will definitely look to stay here again!

We loved this house and our vacation

This house is very nice. It’s well decorated and has many thoughtful touches throughout. The kitchen is well equipped and everything is in good condition and very clean. We especially liked the color coordinated and soft towels and sheets instead of the usual hotel grade scratchy and worn towels we get at other places. The whole house is very clean, warm and inviting. It is a very short walk to the beach, with a convenient private entrance. The supplied beach cart and beach chairs made trips to the beach easy.

We loved our stay at the Mermaid Cottage! It was super clean, comfortable, and had everything we could need. We loved the decorator touches. The design really worked for our group, with a primary suite downstairs and another upstairs, along with a nicely appointed bunk room/bath. The beach was an easy walk, and there was a good walking area for our dogs. We’re planning our next years visit to the Mermaid!

We had 5 adults for a week long stay and it was fantastic. The house had most things we needed which was nice since we travelled in from out of state. The walk to the beach is very short and convenient and it was great that beach chairs and a wagon were provided. Our family would definitely stay again in the future!

Family Beach Vacation

Our family has been vacationing in Florida for many years and this year was another awesome trip in the books. We really enjoyed the beautiful Mermaid Cottage and were very comfortable during our stay. It was an easy walk to the pool or the beach and the home offered plenty of room for our family during meals together, sitting on the balcony, and resting in the living room while enjoying our time together. We definitely look forward to staying again and are thankful to the family for sharing their home with our family. The host was quick to respond and everything was exactly as described.

My Favorite Stay at Miramar Beach

We have vacationed at Miramar Beach several times and this was my favorite rental. We had stayed at this same location before and love how close to private beach and nice pool. But this unit was more up to date and provided several perks (nice beach chairs and towels). Communication was top notch. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
