Simple, comfortable hotel in an Anglican monastery
Simple but comfortable hotel in an Anglican monastery. Pleasant room and shower. Free tea, coffee and biscuits. Good wifi. Reasonable breakfast; no fried food, but boiled egg available. Opportunity to wander the grounds and visit the church.
Good, solid place. It really is a monastery with large grounds and impressive buildings. Welcome was very friendly and helpful. The property is dated, but in fairly good order. Bed was good. Breakfast was cereal and toast type. I was hoping for full breakfast but was not offered. Mirfield also a nice town/village, just avoid school closing time as very busy
The monastery has beautiful gardens to explore in any weather. The accommodation itself is spartan and authentic to the purpose, but is still good material value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again for the gardens alone, but the unique experience is also an attraction.
I liked the privacy and quietness of the place which I was really looking forward to.
The improvement I would recommend is the addition of an air fryer and or a microwave oven to allow those who want hot meals like me to warm my own food or cook half cooked foods from shops like Marks and Spencer.
I stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting a relative in the area. I was warmly welcomed on arrival and building codes were explained. Considering the age of the building the facilities were excellent. It felt safe and secure and I would happily return.
we were in Mirfield for a party, my mum and dads apartment only had room for my wife and I so my too adult child stayed at the Monastery. It is literally a 2 minutes drive from the centre of Mirfield. The staff were very helpful, the rooms are basic but clean and tidy. My boys didnât use the breakfast facilities but the looked very good. and check in and out was a doddle.
we will definitely stay againđ
The host was extremely unfriendly and made faces whils showing the room. Very non cordial and non helpful host. I kept ringing the bell but was attended after 40 minutes. Extremely poor service
The outstanding feature of the B&B was the peace, I slept really well. The breakfast was simple but good, the rooms were spotless and comfortable and I will definitely go there again.
A wonderful experience staying in a monastery. The monastery and it's grounds are beautiful, spiritual and peaceful.
The room was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water.
There were many thoughtful and considerate touches which raised this stay above many other b'n'bs that we have stayed in.
We attended evensong and it was very rewarding.
The simple continental breakfast was adequate.
There are many pubs and restaurants nearby in/near Mirfield. There is also a local train station with Huddersfield being only 8 minutes away.
I would highly recommend Mirfield monastery to anyone looking for a slightly different experience.
What a lovely stay! Exactly what I needed and arrived with a very warm greeting and explained where everything was. Extremely clean and a great breakfast selection. Will definitely stay again when visiting my friends and family in the area again.
