It was exactly what I needed on so many levels for self reflection. It has an historic charm with a courtyard that has plenty of seating, landscaping and a fountain. It was also quite clean and fresh. Very peaceful. Again, this spot was perfect for my personal getaway! I will return.
Physically, the inn is quaint and genteel. Clean rooms and conveniently located downtown. However, I feel security could be better in the parking lot. I never quite felt my car was totally safe but I didnât have an incident; just the perception of it all felt iffy. Also, the inn is too fine of a place to allow the landscaping to be neglected.
The location was excellent, and the courtyard was beautiful! However, that is where the good part of the trip ended. The elevators were out of service, which made carrying luggage and issue, especially since we are older. The room was in need of upgrades. The A/C was noisy, and the bath curtains had mold on them. The front desk clerk was extremely pleasant, which tempered how we felt when we left. She was working without any assistance, which made check-in a bit long. It could be a great place to stay if they did some renovations. It has been there since the 1860's. So, we get that some work might be needed. We probably wouldn't stay there again.
The hotel itself is old and I like the charm. The employees were very nice. My problem is lack of communication. I tried calling the hotel several times using the number on their website and it would go straight to voicemail which was not set up. They never responded to any messages thru Expedia. My biggest problem is that their elevators were out of order and I was placed on the third floor. I had to make several trips up and down the stairs to unload and to find ice. I later found out the elevators werenât just out of order but they just havenât worked in years. There was not a fridge or microwave in the room. The lighting in the room wasnât great. Ok I guess for the money but it really felt like ownership had no desire to make it a better hotel. Do better guys.
