Stay in a beautiful newly built house in Lamu - Arab style. Enjoy exotic pure African feeling, but stay comfortably European. The 3 bedrooms have air conditioning. The house has a solar panel, which instantly starts up during a power failure imperceptibly! No more fret about hour-long power outages, which unfortunately is the order of the day in Diani.

A gardener maintains the large lush tropical garden and swimming pool, a maid takes care of the orderliness and cleanliness and a chef cooks only for you according to your preferences. You just have to buy groceries; your cook can also accompany you. The house is in the secure residential complex Msitu Kwetu, opposite to Kim4love, just 250 metres away from the beach.
Big TV for DVDs, great music system with i-Pod docking station.

Bugs, rats and no amenities

When we first walked in a huge rat ran across the kitchen cabinets. The WiFi barely worked and we were constantly kicked off of it. Bugs were all over the house and we were constantly bitten at night. The hot water did not work in the extra bathroom. The property manager did respond promptly and put a rat trap out and tried to assist with the wifi and hot water. Overall there should be more attention to the property and amenities for guests.

Wundervolles Haus in toller Lage

Sehr schöne, kinderfreundliche und sichere Umgebung. Keine 5 min Fußweg zum unglaublichen weißen Sandstrand. Supermarkt, Apotheke usw. mit den kleinen Tuk Tuks fĂŒr kleines Geld zu erreichen. Kommunikation mit den Verantwortlichen des Hauses war einwandfrei. Traumhafter Urlaub und sehr zu empfehlen.

Lamu style but OLD - needs attention

Property is Lamu style but needs updating. Representation on the web page is not accurate. Plenty of issues with amenities and moved out after a few days. Responses inadequate. Booked for 7 days – Thu 15th Feb 2024 to 22nd Feb. However, after the weekend decided we couldn’t stay when the management company started making excuses. Maintenance was called a few times to fix lights and check out TV etc. Biggest problem was that the housekeeper (Monicah) was also the CHEF. However, she only works 6am to 5pm. We had to negotiate her staying late to 6:30 pm to prepare evening meals. She only works to 12:00 noon on Saturday and not on Sunday. It is commendable that Monicah can prepare food in this poor quality kitchen. Found below issue during stay. 1. The pool had an issue and couldn’t use for first 2-3 days. Problem was fixed but little communication. 2. No AC in lounge. Next to kitchen and gets very warm with just a ceiling fan. Too warm to sit there or eat a meal. AC in bedrooms. 3. 3 bedrooms advertised as part ensuite - Not the case. Separate bathroom for two. 4. There is no HOT TUB as advertised. 5. Satellite/Cable TV was not available. Only You Tube after fiddling? Small TV as larger one had obviously broken. 6. No Stereo or Music library. 7. Listed as Beach just 250 yards – good 10 to 15 minutes walk. Isolated area. 8. Everything was OLD. Microwave just worked with perseverance. 9. Kitchen utensils/pots/pans etc very old – just about usable. All need replacing.

Sehr schöner Urlaubsort

Wir wurden sehr herzlich und freundlich von Monica empfangen. Sie hat uns in das Haus eingewiesen. Anschließend ist sie sofort los, um fĂŒr uns ein ordentliches FrĂŒhstĂŒck einzukaufen. Das Lamu Haus ist sehr schön, allerdings innen etwas dunkel. Monica hat jeden Tag die Betten gemacht und aufgerĂ€umt und an jedem zweiten Tag die Betten frisch bezogen. Sie ist eine fantastische Köchin und versteht es gut mit dem Geld zu Haushalten. Garten und Pool werden von Roger gepflegt. Hier ist jedoch anzumerken, dass der Pool nicht tĂ€glich gereinigt wird und die Sonnenliegen und Sonnenschirme schon deutlich bessere Zeiten gehabt haben. Der Weg zum Strand betrĂ€gt mindestens 700 m und nicht wie in der Beschreibung angegeben 250 m. Zuletzt ist noch anzumerken, dass das Haus in der Einflugschneise des kleinen Flughafens liegt. Allerdings kommen die Flieger immer erst am Nachmittag. Uns hat es im Lamu Haus sehr gut gefallen und wir haben dort fĂŒnf schöne Wochen verbracht.

Little piece of paradise

We arrived one day early. My mistake because I didn't check the dates. Monicah was at the house, contacted the owner and told us we could stay. Nothing was to much or a problem for them. The house was very clean, the rooms all had airco, the garden was well kept and the private pool was always clean. Every morning we had for breakfast what we wanted: pancakes, toast, eggs, everything was possible. Diner was always the best. Monicah is an absolute gem. Next time in kenya we will absolutely look foor renting this house.

Great time

The house needs painting inside, people hit the walls with things just doesn’t look great. Could use new bedding for sure, all bedding was clean just a little thin.Furnishings was ok not the most comfortable but everything was ok. The grounds are fantastic Robert kept the yard tidy and the pool very clean. We spent 10 day and had a great time. Our chief Monicah was fabulous she she made everything we asked for. Over all I would stay here again. The thing I mentioned paint and bedding would not keep me from going back. The owner was great when I messaged her she got right back to me. I did give a 5 star rating because the place was fantastic. Hope to visit again some day. Thank Linda L. & Cindy B.

Tolles Haus nicht weit vom Strand

Das Haus ist sehr schön, hat 3 Schlafzimmer und 2 BĂ€der im oberen Stock. Die Schlafzimmerhaben sogar eine Klimaanlage. Der Garten ist sehr gepflegt und der Pool ordentlich groß, dass man gut darin schwimmen kann. Es gibt eine gute Auswahl an unterschiedlichen PlĂ€tzen, an denen man sich aufhalten kann. Besonders toll ist Monica, sie kocht wunderbar und macht auch sonst alles schön ordentlich und sauber. Ein irrer Luxus, den man sonst nur aus Hotels kennt! Wir waren absolut begeistert von dem Haus und können es nur jedem weiterempfehlen!

Perfekte Location fĂŒr die Familie

Angefangen bei der Kommunikation mit der EigentĂŒmerin Birgit in Deutschland lief alles perfekt fĂŒr uns. In Mombasa angekommen wurden wir vom Haus organisiert von Peter (great driver - pleasant talks) abgeholt und von Monicah (Chef & Housekeeper) in der Villa empfangen. Das Haus, der Garten und der Pool waren super gepflegt (thanks to Roger - the gardener). Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet, Aircondition in den Schlafzimmern und schöne BĂ€der mit grossen BadetĂŒchern, die man auch fĂŒr den nur ca. 200m entfernten Strand mitnehmen durfte. Der Strand war sauber und bei Ebbe interessant fĂŒr Tierbeobachtungen auf den vorgelagerten Felsen. Unser Highlight war aber die Betreuung durch Monicah, die nicht nur von den Kindern heissgeliebte Pfannkuchen und Omletts zu FrĂŒhstĂŒck zubereitete, sondern auch ganz nach Wunsch Fisch-, Fleisch- und vegetarische Gerichte schmackhaft auf den Tisch brachte. Selbst bei zwei Barbeques stand sie ihren Grillmeister :-) Freundlich, bescheiden und serviceorientiert hat Monicah unseren Aufenthalt mehr als bereichert. Nichts zu meckern als Deutscher- das geht nicht! Unser einziger kleiner Wermutstropfen war, dass die Liegen am Pool nur flach und keine RĂŒckenlehne hatte. Also mal wieder jammern auf hohem Niveau bei einem Urlaub, der in Punkto Preis-Leistung absolut positiv fĂŒr uns war.

Very nice property! We really enjoyed the pool, which had a nice balance of sun and shade. Monicah the housekeeper/cook did a great job. Short walk to the beach, and located in a nice quite area. Each bedroom had AC which was nice. The owner was very responsive and easy to work with.

Urlaub im tollen Ambiente

Wir haben im August 2018 zwei Wochen im Lamu Haus verbracht, der Aufenthalt war sehr entspannend. Das Haus ist sehr stilvoll eingerichtet und bietet viel Raum fĂŒr ein gemĂŒtliches, familienfreundliches Beisammensein. Die Lage ist hervorragend, da der Strand fußlĂ€ufig zu erreichen ist und die Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der NĂ€he sind. Das Estate "Msitu Kwetu" ist sehr gepflegt und recht grĂŒn, Colubus Affen sieht man nahezu tĂ€glich. Die Korrespondenz mit der Besitzerin war sehr gut, auch gibt es eine Agentin vor Ort, die nach dem Rechten schaut. Wir können das Haus wirklich weiter empfehlen und wĂŒrden jeder Zeit wieder dort Urlaub machen.

Schönes Haus, entspannte AtmosphÀre!

Wir (Familie mit drei Kindern) haben uns im Lamu-Haus sehr wohl gefĂŒhlt. Dir RĂ€ume sind großzĂŒgig und gut ausgestattet, die Versorgung problemlos, der Service der Angestellten zuverlĂ€ssig, die Umgebung - vor allem der nahe Strand vor der Strandbar "Amigos" - traumhaft. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Einfach traumhaft !

Wir waren im Juli-August 2017 fĂŒr einen Monat zu Gast im Lamuhaus. Das Haus ist sehr geschmackvoll und harmonisch möbliert, die Architektur des Hauses und die Möbel bilden eine wundervolle optische Einheit. Die KĂŒche ist perfekt ausgestattet, eine kaputte Kaffeemaschine wurde sofort ausgetauscht. Das ganze Haus, die Terassen und der Pool sind sehr sauber. Die Betten sind super bequem und groß. Die Badarmaturen sind schon etwas angegriffen, was aber am feucht-warmen Klima und der salzhaltigen KĂŒstenluft liegt. Wir hĂ€tten uns noch DuschvorhĂ€nge gewĂŒnscht, vor allem in dem kleinen Badezimmer, da nach dem Duschen die davorstehende Toilette immer völlig nass war. Das Hasupersonal war sehr freundlich und zuverlĂ€ssig. Auch langschlafende Teenager waren kein Problem. Auch Tagesbesucher durften wir empfangen und bewirten. Zum traumhaft weißen Strand sind es ca 5 Minuten Fußweg, einige gute Beachbars und Restaurants sind ĂŒber den Strand fußlĂ€ufig schnell erreichbar. Am Strand findet man auch ein umfangreiches Wassersportangebot und etwas weiter abseits der Hotels kann man, von Beachboys relativ unbehelligt, auch ungestört ein Sonnenbad genießen. Gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten fĂŒr Obst, GemĂŒse und Lebensmittel (auch europĂ€ische Lebensmittel und Baguette) sind recht schnell erreichbar, zu Fuß ca 20 Minuten und mit dem Tuktuk in nicht mal 5 Minuten. Wir sind eine gemischt deutsch-kenianische Familie und waren schon in verschiedenen anderen Cottages in Diani Beach. Das Lamuhaus war bisher mit Abstand das schönste und am besten gepflegteste Feriendomizil zu einem unschlagbaren Preis. Vielen Dank, dass wir Gast sein durften Anna, Fredrick, Mona, Hanna, Faris und Eric!

Wirklich Urlaub..

kann man im Lamu-Haus machen! Tolles Haus, prima Personal und sehr gute Lage. Wenige Minuten zum Strand und Restaurants. ( Beachbar Forts Thieves und das in einer uralten Höhle befindliche Ali Barbours Cave sowie das Ushago. Zu empfehlen: Pfeffersteak mit Pommes fĂŒr 600 Schilling) Dort ist auch Bundesliga!! Besonderes Lob fĂŒr den allzeit erreichbaren und sofort reagierenden "Evan". Extrem hilfreich auch seine sehr guten Deutschkenntnisse, die manche Frage unkompliziert machte. Alles in allem ein wunderbarer Urlaub, den wir sicher im Lamu wiederholen werden.

Super Aufenthalt

Die Angestellten und die Vermieterin sind super nett und lieb. Es war ein wunderbarer Aufenthalt fĂŒr meine Kinder und mich. Das Haus und der Garten laden zum entspannen ein. Es gab wirklich gar nichts zu bemĂ€ngeln. Lamu House war fĂŒr 6Wochen unser 2.zu Hause. Wir alle haben uns sehr wohl gefĂŒhlt und hatten eine wahnsinnig schöne Zeit . Lovely house, lovely location, the best people

The house is everything it is represented to be. Good sized, we were 6 adults and it worked well for us. The property is well kept and the pool is clean, clear and does not smell of chemicals. The best part of the stay was Mary who is the housekeeper and Mohammed the cook. They made or stay delightful. We can only say good things about the Lamu house and our wonderful time.
