THIS PROPERTY IS UNFIT FOR GUESTS! From arrival, problems were everywhere. The house was infested with ants, in the bathrooms, kitchen, and even in the beds. We were attacked by ants all night on our bodies and faces, making sleep impossible. At one point the entire kitchen island was crawling with them. The AC barely worked, leaving the home hot and uncomfortable. The kitchen trash can was broken, the main refrigerator did not work (the "backup" fridge had old food inside), a bedroom fan was broken, the mattress was cheap and slid around, and one toilet seat would not stay up. I reported these issues to the host right away. She first responded, then became short and dismissive. She lied about sending help and told me to use the nearly empty can of bug spray left in the house. Clearly this was a known issue. By morning, my mother was in tears from lack of rest. With my brother fully disabled and my mother struggling with bad knees, I had to move our luggage, pay for last-minute lodging, transportation, laundry, and endure hours without anywhere to store our bags. When I requested a refund, the host at first offered one, but she refused to return the cleaning fee and one nightâs stay. Even though the home had a serious pest issue, she claimed her housekeeping, mortgage, and utilities were not free. This showed zero empathy for the stress and expenses I faced. I escalated to VRBO, provided my evidence, and thankfully was granted a full refund
