Water Retreat , Robert Trent Jones , Wilson Lake view
Take in the stunning views of Wilson Lake at the 6 bedroom 4 bath âcozy cottageâ. Although it's
like two separate houses on top of each other (with the second floor containing its own kitchen), this house offers a cozy feel that family members or friends can spend time together but still have adequate space to sleep 12. The cozy cottage has two piers and a wrap around composite deck on the back of the house. It also has a cozy covered porch right off of the kitchen. Boaters, golfers, families and friends can all enjoy the cozy cottage
This is a great house size and layout for a large group and has an incredible view. However the property needs a thorough cleaning and maintenance work done inside and out - spiderwebs on baseboards, bugs around window frames, mildew in bathrooms, malfunctioning AC, trash left outside, broken outdoor furniture, broken boards on the docks, etc. The size and layout were ideal for what we needed, and it was helpful to have two refrigerators and a big washer/dryer. But weâd need to see thorough maintenance work done before booking again.
Disappointed in condition of property - very tired and dirty. Mold, stains, bugs, squirrel in attic, had to get electrician out to fix breaker/circuits, had issues with alarm system going off in middle of night, beds were old and worn out, not enough dishes and silverware.Lots of potential but needs thorough cleaning inside and outside. Dead bait found left in one of the grills on the dock.
Have stayed here 3 or 4 times for group trips - location is ideal. House is nice and well stocked. Starting to need a little maintenance like cleaning the gutters and roof, minor paint to touch up. The cat doors need to be patched up so rodents donât get in the house.
There are some good things about this property, but unfortunately, it was not ready to be rented. When we arrived, there were wet, moldy books, strand about the countertops in the kitchen and utility room. The lights in the dining room and the living room were not working and generally a place just wasnât clean. The host did get back on someone over to the house quickly to clean up the countertops and flip the breaker back on, so that was good. The house is in a great location, has lots of room and a nice dock. Other things of note: none of the deck furniture could be sat on, and most of it had moss and mildew growing on it. The deck needs to be pressure washed. There were light switch covers missing, dead bugs pretty much everywhere, remotes that didnât work, showerheads that had mold on them, generally just not ready for renters. All these things can be fixed but the place just needed some TLC. We were 4 guys golfing so we just dealt with it, but had our wives been with us we would have not stayed there.
Nice Location, Good Size and Layout, Needs A Deep Cleaning and TLC
First the positives; the property is on Lake Wilson with two docks (but no boat ramp). There was plenty of room for our group which consisted of six men all over 60. The property has a beautiful view and we enjoyed being close to Muscle Shoals. We were able to tie our boat to the dock and fished from the dock and on the boat. The kitchen is large and user friendly.
Negatives; the house needs a thorough cleaning inside and out. There is a slight musty odor when you walk in. We found mold/mildew in one of the showers. Several lamps were missing light bulbs. Some cabinet doors and drawers were missing hardware. There were not enough pots and pans in the kitchen and what was there needed replacing. The bathrooms only had small hotel size soap, and not enough of that. We also ran low on toilet paper and had to buy additional. The walk to the docks is steep and the path on the left side could use a rail near the bottom. The patio furniture is mildewed and the deck needs power washing. Finally, some of the light switches and in weird places. We never found a switch that turns on the dining room lights.
My group returned to this home after 3 years. It is a fantastic location for the RTJ golf trail. Plenty of parking, views are exceptional, beds are comfortable and plenty of room for 8-10 men.
Unfortunately we had some issues that we chose to delay addressing due to tight schedule until after we checked out. The house could use some TLC to get it back to the shape it was in a few years back. Overall cleanliness, Slow draining showers, and an HVAC tuneup.
My family and thoroughly appreciated celebrating Labor Day weekend at this waterfront property. Checking in was a breeze and Rafi was reachable for any questions or concerns raised.
There were a couple of hiccups during our stay and we communicated our concerns along with recommendations directly during our stay. Chiefly among them was noticeable mold found in some of the bathroom showers and curtains, cobwebs mostly on the porch and decks, and issue with the stove closing and utilizing the dishwasher. It was not necessarily a dealbreaker but these are things the cleaners should be handling before paid guests arrive. Rafi did mention that there is an expected deep clean post-summer though that wasnât a viable solution during our stay, however.
All in all, we would recommend booking this property especially if you want to be secluded near a golf course on the water or plan to be on the water with family.
We started off with a couple small things that need to be taken care of, but Rafi was extremely quick and helpful about getting it done. The property is beautiful and had the perfect view. Will definitely return.
This property was the perfect size for our group. However, although the capacity is 12, the kitchen only had nine plates, not enough silverware, three wine glasses, no stock pot for boiling pasta (thankfully I had a friend nearby who loaned us some essentials). The beds in our bedroom were air mattresses. But mostly, the place was not very clean. Cobwebs everywhereâINSIDE. The host made us sign an additional contract that was not even for this property but one he also has in Orange Beach. He was relatively responsive, though. Having a dock for our boat was a plus, but there were rotting boards and warped boards. The grill did not have enough propane-again my friend provided us an extra. We would not stay there again.
This is a perfect rental property if youâre getting a group of buddies together for a weekend. We had a blast! The house is right on the water. Great space in the house. Everything was fantastic.
I booked this in August for our sonâs wedding. We loved this place! You couldnât ask for a more peaceful, lovely view. We had 11 people overnight and a few more visitors during the day of the wedding who arrived in town early and ate lunch with us. There was plenty of room for us all! Kitchen is well supplied with what I needed for cooking/baking what I had planned. The listing had shown 2 king size beds, and when we arrived, there was only one (perhaps one had been replaced recently), but all the beds were comfortable, so it wasnât a huge issue for our guests. Seemed like we were using new towels, which was nice. Plenty of parking area. Super close to the RTJ golf course where the wedding was held. I think it took us 8 minutes to get there. It was nice to have all the bedrooms, so people could have their own place when they wanted or needed it. Rained quite a bit of the time we were there, so didnât get to spend much time outside. Great house - would recommend!
Was a great location for our annual golf trip. Plenty of room and lots of beds. Great location near the course with excellent view of lake. Would recommend.
Although the view was absolutely amazing the property is in dire need of a deep clean. As others have stated we had to sweep the floors upon arrival and remove the entry mats as they were nasty. The bathroom sink didn't drain properly. The bathrooms had mold/mildew. The towels could use a refresh. There were no wine glasses. The wifi password did not work and Rafi was not helpful with that issue. Unable to watch anything on the TVs in the bedrooms. The lamps in one room did not have any lightbulbs. The remote to turn off the overheard light didn't have any batteries so you could not turn on the fan without the light being on. Some clean outdoor dining furniture and dock chairs would have been nice. The house has so much potential!
