Less expensive and budget friendly. Amenities available like Onsen and table tennis. Laudry is also available. Distance is the disadvantage. It's a little far from the city center although still walking distance.

This large and rambling hotel is on a wooded mountain slope near the Happo-One gondola and quite far from Hakuba Station. It is one of only a few hotels operating during the off-season (late June) and would be bustling with winter sports enthusiasts during the ski season. My visit was quiet and relaxing.
Stayed here in Spring, which I suspect is a whole different ballgame to Winter. Location was great as we did not have a car. As others note it’s a steep hill to walk up but it’s not long. With many restaurants closed at this time of year having breakfast onsite and the option of buffet dinner at the restaurant was brilliant. The hot baths were great too. The rooms themselves were a little tired and basic however the beds were comfortable and the property was quiet. We did hire a car for 24 hours to get to see the snow monkeys (recommendation for
The property is near the top of the hill with limited road service. It’s a 10 min walk down to the strip and Gondola area. If it’s snowing you will not be able to get a taxi, and there is no Uber in the area. The hotel does not provide a shuttle service or is not part of the Hakuba ski shuttle. There were other issues such as an embarrassing breakfast buffet. The selection was limited and the only thing we could eat was the tiny croissant and miso soup. Even though it was free we ended up walking down to a cafe on the strip. The rooms were kept clean but very dated including the beddings and sheets. The walls of course were quite thin so one night there was someone singing karaoke and on the other side a family with kids banging thins around. The staff were pleasant enough and the ladies at the front desk were helpful but the lack of transportation was the biggest drawback. We had to walk at night to restaurants because taxis couldn’t get there and when we checked out we again couldn’t get transportation to the bus station. We had to load up and walk down to the strip in snowy conditions and from there we got a taxi.
Very close to the side lift which made it very convenient. Still close enough to the main lift for purchasing ski passes and where the rentals are. Facilities are old but not bad. Onsen was clean but the outdoor area is a bit small (if there are more than 3 people). Parking is tight but available if you can get your car up the small hill and the counter can help you reserve a taxi which is super helpful. The receptionists all had good English too.
It's at the hill top, having to drag your luggage would be a difficult task. Likewise for the ski and snowboard. Will have to hike up just to get back to the accoms. Just a poor location other then this, all is pretty decent.
