Falls Short
I wanted to be able to give this beautiful home a 5 star review. There are so many great features that make your stay enjoyable.
What we loved:
The bedroom/bathroom combos gave everyone a space of their own.
The location provided accessibility to restaurants, shops, and most importantly the beach.
The decks made morning coffee and evening sunsets enjoyable.
The pool and hot tub.
The house was not noisy. You could sleep on any floor and not be bothered.
The multiple refrigerators made it very convenient for multiple families.
The cabana service is amazing. They put up your tent and 6 chairs each morning around 8:00am.
What I want others to know:
This house needs some maintenance. One of the beds was broken and âfixedâ with a board. The toaster is on its last leg. The locks and doors to the deck are very difficult to open/close. The showers have lots of mold in the corners and the water pressure is not great.
Additionally, the house cleaners did a less than stellar job. We walked in to sandy floors, food crumbs all over the furniture, steps that happened been vacuumed in what looked like months as they were caked with dog hair and sand. The large island was sticky and the windows needed cleaned. They did offer to send someone back out the next morning, but who wants to do that after you have occupied the space? We cleaned ourselves and just dealt with it. There was also a great deal of trash outside.
None of the remotes had batteries in them. We had to go buy them.
Beware that this home is extremely close to neighbors. We were fortunate and had great ones, but I could see this being a problem.
Finally, the air conditioning on the top floor was not working. At first we thought it was just not working well, but by the 3rd day it was 80 upstairs. We called late one evening and they told me they couldnât send anyone out and that someone would be out in the morning. I had to call 5 times the next day and we were provided window units for the two upstairs bedrooms.
Ultimately, we had a great vacation. Itâs just frustrating to pay almost $20,000 a week for a home that should be well maintained for that cost. We understand it is difficult to maintain a home at the beach, but we were not impressed and found it disappointing to have to clean it ourselves. I appreciated how responsive the company was, but would hope that some of these things are fixed for future renters. We will not be renting this home again in the future.
