We had a hurricane forecasted for our stay, but that didnt stop the fun. Walk to the beach was short and perfect. Short walk to the local pier. House was not updated, but things are in working condition. Dryer broke while we were there, but the repair men were sent in a timely fashion
Some may say out-dated, but we loved the charm. Great location, not busy at the beach. Close to the pier and Fishheads restaurant. Will definitely book again if our travels take us back to the ocean.
Our family had a great time. Short walk to beach and Fish Heads Restaurant( Highly recommend). My family would stay again for sure. Check in and out was easy. Friendly staff.
The place is within a short walking distance to the beach and about a 5-6 min walk to the nearest restaurant, Fish Heads. In my opinion, the house could use some TLC. It seemed a bit dirty, there were cobwebs and dust on the walls, ceiling fans, and light fixtures. There was mold on the ceiling and corners of two bedrooms. The front deck was okay, you needed to wear shoes on it due to rough boards, and nails sticking up. We also, noticed that the top step of the deck was coming off. We could live with the outdated furniture, however, there were stains and holes in the sofas. The A/C worked great and kept everyone cool. The WIFI and appliances worked well. There are 5 doors to the house, but one door lets you in. When you arrive it leaves you stumped - scratching your head trying to figure out how to get in. Well, you enter through the master bedroom at the bottom of the house and not at the front deck (where you would think you would go in). Overall, it was a great stay at the OBX and I hope this house gets the TLC it deserves!
I could live with the outdated interior you can see in the pictures, but two rooms had some mold on ceilings and the porch was in rough shape. We had to keep shoes on because the boards where a little rough and nails sticking up. The house had plenty of room and a/c worked great and it was in a great location. It just needs some TLC in my opinion.
There are 5 doors and only one key at the furthest door with the tightest set of steps to the second floor. Very out dated dingy and in need of repairs. Great location. Would not recommend to any one I know.
Thatâs about as far as it goes for positives. Out of 5 doors into the property we had keys to get into one of them, and it was the door into the master bedroom in the basement. Things worked enough to get through a week but half the toaster didnât work, there was a wheel missing on the dishwasher rack so it fell each time we pulled it out, a burner on the stove caught fire, half the power was out because there are so many AC units it overloaded the breaker, leaving my youngest child in a room into the 80s overnight because no one came until the next day to look at anything. All in all, it worked, and the location was great, but it wasnât ideal.
Terrible owner and outdated property with lots of problems checking in. Lost lots of time.
We got there at check in just as requested. got the keys and paperwork so we headed to the house. Once at the house The owner was staying at the house when we showed up. Said âwhy the hell are you in my drivewayâ I replied. We are suppose to be staying here and I have the address. She said âthen we have a problem because I booked this months ago.â. So she wouldnât give up the house and made a call to the Carolina shores vacation rentals and talked to the owner of the rental company. Rental company then said we could stay at a Different house that wasnât on the ocean. I said no thatâs ridicules and we would not do that. We booked this house months ago and signed a contract. Once we threatened to get my attorney involved then the guy from the rental company told the owner of the house she had to give up the house because she was under contract with us and already took our money. So They hang up and the owner of the property asks us what we want to do because she didnât want to leave....WE WANT TO STAY AT WHERE WE BOOKED! so she said okay âgive me time for my friends to arrive then we will go stay at the other house.â Her friends show up an hour later.. Drunk... start yelling and causing a scene and were upset they had to leave.. and said they couldnât believe we were kicking them out.. so the owner says we should go out to eat so we donât have to wait to get into the house. needless to say we didnât get in the house till 10pm that night!!! The owner also left us the house with sand all over the floors and milkshakes in the one freezer... it wasnât professionally cleaned and up to covid standards. The house paint is peeling on the outside everywhere. One fridge was broke and kept freezing our food. Ruined half hour food. The porch has rotted boards and nails sticking up everywhere. I cut my foot twice. No big pots in the house for doing bigger meals. The location however is great and thatâs the only thing we enjoyed about the place. I will never go through that rental company again. They do not care about you or your time. I wanted money back and was not given it when I feel I deserved some kind of discount for being treated so bad and like my time didnât matter. Do not rent!!! Iâm very upset that my family and i took time off work to be treated like this and drive 12 hours from Ohio to just be bullied around even though they already took my money. It was a hassle!! We had a baby and an elderly woman with cancer! They didnât care. It was awful.
We enjoyed our time in this house. We were a little worried about the location to the shops and to the beach but we were totally surprised about just how close to everything we were. The beach was even a lot closer than we though. We only had a few issues with the place but they were so minor that it didn't even faze us when it was all said and done.
The property was a great choice. There was plenty of room for family on the main floor, as well as a private "mother-in-law suite" for me downstairs, complete with its own kitchenette. The house was close enough to the beach, an easy walk for the kids. There were five TV's; however, only two of them worked. The channel selection for the one that worked in the main living area was fine, as we didn't intend to take a beach vacation to watch TV. The key would only open the door to the downstairs bedroom, and did not fit the doors to the covered porch, which were the only locks that were not rusted. But all in all, I believe this would have been a fantastic vacation, had Hurricane Dorian not ruined it. The rental company/property manager did not contact me about the evacuation. Family from another state sent me the evacuation notice. As I paid for seven days and only got two beach days, it was the most expensive trip per night ever spent. No comp days or any incentives are offered if the travel insurance was not purchased, even though we were forced to leave due to pending weather conditions. Given the opportunity, I would rent the house again, as it did suit our needs and had great vacation potential.

Location was great
The location of the property was great. Close to the beach and pier. However the property appears to be poorly maintained by the owner. The only door that we had a key too was hanging open when we arrived and you could barely shut it open it. Only 2 cable boxes out of the 5 actually worked and we called the office the first night. They advised someone would be there the next day. No one ever showed up or called back regarding any of the issues.
The location was perfect. The walk to the beach was perfect with a toddler. The house is dated but I expected that though it could use just a tad of updating. Like new pillows, steak knives, mattress, water hose to clean your sandy items other than the shower that's outside which was difficult to use for cleaning toys and chairs and such. We might would stay there again for the location and walk to the beach if a few items were updated and added.
The house was very clean. It was well stocked with everything we needed for the kitchen. The queen bed mattress could be a little more firm and some of the living room furniture could be updated. The location is great for the beach, no roads to cross.
We enjoyed our stay.
