This could have been a much better stay. Check-in was nearly 2 hours late for us and other guests because the rooms weren't ready. The pool is listed amongst the amenities offered, but it was drained and out of service. 30 minutes after getting into our room, house keeping unlocked the door and walked in on us without knocking. Hair dryers are also listed as an amenity, but there wasn't one in the room. When I called and requested one, they said they'd have one sent over right away. 30 minutes later when no one showed up, I called again, only to be told they didn't have one available. The restaurant on the premises is closed. The grounds are beautiful however, with a little stream running through. The hotel is very close to everything in Nevada City.

Safety is important to the staff. There's a small waterfall and a lot of blackberries to pick. There's also a meadow with a lake. It's not a fancy hotel and somewhat dated but the staff is wonderful. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the price is right. There's internet access and its walking distance from Nevada City. This is the second time I have stayed there and I would stay there again.

Short toilet

Your hotel was beautiful. The only problem we had was we stayed in a regular room, but the toilet was like a little kitty toilet and getting up and down in a 12 inch toilet is pretty hard for older people. I would suggest just getting taller toilets but otherwise it was a good stay, and we enjoyed the staff and we wish the restaurant would’ve been open But other than that it was it was really good

I had checked out this hotel ahead. they gave me a newly refurbished room, it was quiet and clean. Its a short drive to downtown. I didn't walk it but i believe you can. I was attending an event at navada fairgrounds in grass valley it was perfect just 10 mins.

Dirty sheets on bed.

A nasty experience. Was made to wait past check in, told I was being upgraded. Sounds great but the room was no deal. The shower was broken to the point of non use ( late night discovery). And the king size bed still had the sheets from previous guests on it ( complete with cigarette sweat stains/smells and long hairs on other side of bed. So filthy, the odor was detectable in my luggage. No maid service either. Had to use laundry mat after this stay. Old and out of the way, this is one Inn to avoid...

MATCH ONLINE RATES FOR WALK IN CUSTOMERS

Laura was really nice and offered to switch rooms but we were too sleepy to move. Staff is always the best here. GRIPE- I think it’s a travesty, and maybe price fixing, to not allow online price matching to WALK IN GUESTS. This is my 3rd time staying here and I should be able to get price match. Hotels.com while i appreciate the great rates you give, the hotel should be able to match those rates for walk in/ return customers. You’re hurting an already struggling property. This place could be incredible with the restaurant/ pool back and a few room upgrades. Light sockets/ USB.

Don't bother

I blame myself on not looking at the reviews from others first. But we upgraded to the Chalet and it was absolutely nothing like the nice photos. Some rooms may be remodeled, but what they gave us was absolutely disgusting and I can't believe they actually thought I would want to sleep in it. There were stains all over the floors, including a bloodstain in the bathroom upstairs. The dishwasher had mold in it as well as the shower drain and air vents. The caninets and oven were disgusting. We checked in late at night after driving for 16 hours, just to have to leave and go somewhere else. Unless you do drugs and don't care where you sleep, maybe choose something else.

This property is really a hidden gem of a hotel. The rates are very reasonable and the area around the hotel is beautiful. The property even has a natural waterfall and a fern grotto which is extraordinary. The rooms are older but very clean and well maintained. Also the beds are very comfortable. The room also has a small refrigerator and microwave. All in all this is a place you should really consider. I know i would definitely come back.
