“Destination fee of $29.99 per night was not clearly communicated until we arrived at the hotel. Even the superior king was quite small with a tiny closet and no drawers. Other than that the room was clean, the maids and front desk staff were excellent. The Whitehall subway stop is at the end of the block with other options a 10-15 minute walk. Many dining choices in the neighborhood and a variety of cultural opportunities and shopping from high (Printemps) to low (Centery 21).

My room - a deluxe King - was tiny and, save for the bed (which was comfortable but definitely not a king-size), functionally useless. I get that it is New York - I lived there for 10 years and understand that all accommodations are necessarily compact. The problem was that nothing was done to make it useful. There was no closet, no hangers (!), no iron... not even a coat hook. The desk was about 2 feet long and 8" wide, with its surface entirely taken up with what amenities there were (an alarm clock, a phone, some tissues), so in the morning when I needed to do some work, I had to sit on the bed. I left stressed and rumpled (again, no iron, no hangers, no coat hook....). Overall, the room did its job, but I would never return.

The hotel itself is very average all around, which is fine. Unfortunately the service left much to be desired. I had to cut my trip short due to an unforeseen event and I asked the management if it was possible to grant some type of credit (not even a refund) for the days in my reservation I was going to have to forfeit. The manager was extremely dismissive and rude in declining to provide any type of solution. For a hotel which is already very average the service makes all the difference. This hotel does not pass that test. 5/10

It was nice service was excellent from the staff from the front desk to the people at the bar. Restaurants and coffee shops are near by, very convenient spot.
