Nevis Trip 2022

The property is a detached house with an apartment at ground level and another at 1st floor level; each with its own access. It is surrounded by approximately one half of an acre. There is a good sized pool to the rear of the house. On the plus side we found the furniture to be of a high standard, and the apartment is spacious for a one bed . On the negative there were some serious issues The kitchen is very dated, and gave the impression that the apartment had not been occupied for quite some time. There seemed to be evidence of some creature droppings in many of the cupboards, which in several cases were not as clean as you might expect. There were also some stains on the hob. There were some untidy detergent containers in a cupboard below the sink, one of which was virtually empty, and gave the wrong impression. The fridge was also unsatisfactory, and some shelves showed signs of rust. There was a general air of neglect. We requested that the kitchen be re-cleaned, which did happen the following day. The living area was fine , as was the bedroom. The furniture was fine. The bathroom was dated. The rubber mat in the bath/shower area was black with mold on the underside, which we asked to be removed The swimming pool itself was fine and clean, but the steps down were treacherous as they were at varying levels, giving us some problems to negotiate. There was no safety ring. The gardeners left quite an amount of grass cuttings in the pool after their work. It was not cleared until the pool man came some days later. He did a fine job, but should not have had to face this issue. The BBQ was covered by a completely disintegrated cover, which was subsequently binned by the people who came to service the BBQ. It was not working when we arrived and we did not get to use it for some 5 days approximately. It did not operate by the automatic ignition and one had to remove one of heavy metal grill grates to access the gas. This is dangerous for someone not used to BBQs. We bought a gas lighter with extension to do the job. There were some issues of a personal nature, which proved quite unpleasant, which we reported to the agent at the end of our stay. Notwithstanding the above, we enjoyed our stay.
