Spacious shore-side bungalow in an exclusive and historic location

This is a beautifully located bungalow situated on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. This spacious property consists of 3 double bedrooms, 2 large reception rooms, a kitchen, a modern fitted bathroom and an additional shower room. The master bedroom and front living room overlook the ocean and the rear of the property has open rural views stretching to the mountains and the nearby Rockfleet, or Carrickahowley, Castle. A few minutes’ walk along the sea front will take you to this 16th century castle, which was once the home of the Irish pirate queen, Grace O’Malley, or Granuaile. Also within easy walking distance along the sea front is Roigh Pier with a small harbour of local fishing boats. Fishing and sight-seeing trips can be arranged from here. The immediate area provides excellent walking opportunities, including the Furnace lakes, Shramore and Letterkeen forest and the Nephin mountain range. Both stylish and cosy, this bungalow is perfect for couples, families and groups.

TrÚs bon séjour

Nous avons passé un trÚs bon séjour dans cette région de Newport. La maison est trÚs bien placée pour visiter les environs. ProblÚme de pression d'eau dans la douche de la petite salle de bain et aussi problÚme d'évacuation dans les WC. Dans l'ensemble nous sommes trÚs contents de notre séjour. Merci à Yvor

TrÚs beau séjour cher Yvor !

Nous avons passé un excellent moment chez Yvor, dans ce Comté de Mayo que nous ne connaissions pas. La maison est idéalement situé en bord de mer avec une vue trÚs agréable et tout à la fois dans un coin paisible. Confort et qualité de l'accueil étaient au rendez-vous et nous avons tout à la fois apprécié la disponibilité de Mary et son époux ainsi que leurs petites marques d'attention : pot de confiture maison, le nécessaire pour un bon breakfast dans le réfrigérateur...Le Comté de Mayo est superbe et cette découverte manquait vraiment à notre connaissance de l'Irlande pourtant déjà bien marquée ; Achill Island avec ses superbes paysages typiquement Irish mais aussi Westport petite cité trÚs typique, commerçante, colorée...et ses pubs dont le fameux Matt Molloy's et ses soirées musicales à ne pas manquer ! Nous reviendrons sans hésiter !

Un avre de paix dans un endroit trés calme et joli. Bon QG pour les amoureux de nature,

Accueil de Mary trĂšs convivial, Ă  notre Ă©coute en permanence, le gite est situĂ© dans un endroit ou le calme et la nature font que le vrai repos est garanti tout en gardant une proximitĂ© des bourgades pratiques pour les courses (moins 15 mn). Quelques petits Ă©quipements de cuisines (poĂȘles supplĂ©mentaires, plat Ă  four, essoreuse Ă  salade) mĂ©riteraient d'ĂȘtre complĂ©tĂ©s et wifi perfectible par moment... Nous avons passĂ©s deux semaines formidables dans une rĂ©gion vraiment trĂšs belle. Le positionnement du gĂźte sur la carte permet des orientations de balades et randonnĂ©es multiples pratiques.(Ile Achille, Parc National Ballicroy, Lacs,Connemara Ă  - 45 mn...) Bruno et Olivia

Stunning location

The house is just so well located and fully equipped that you can forgive, even forget, the few minor negative points. Situated on a no-through road, waterfront plot, overlooking the Clew bay and 200 metres from an important historical landmark (though it would appear to be low on the average travellers visit list). Ivor (and Mary) were both kind, helpful and accommodating. The local towns Newport and Westport are easily accessible and have most things you will need. And the Wild Atlantic Way tourist project takes you to stupendous places and sights. Matt Malloy’s pub in Westport is a must for the music and how can you refuse such a good pint of Guinness. We’ll be back.

Un grand merci Ă  Mr Boyle de nous avoir mis Ă  disposition sa maison, confortable, accueillante et simple. Nous y avons Ă©tĂ© reçu avec une grande gentillesse. Nous avons fait un sĂ©jour de trois semaines paisible dans un magnifique environnement. Nous avons visitĂ© tous les beaux paysage du connemara et du comtĂ© de Mayo. L'Ăźle d'Achil nous a beaucoup impressionnĂ©e, mais aussi Wesport, Mulranny et les parcs naturels... Si vous avez besoin d'informations pour votre sĂ©jour, n'hĂ©sitez pas Ă  vous arrĂȘter Ă  l'office du tourisme de Mulranny, des personnes trĂšs compĂ©tentes vous renseignerons. Merci pour le trĂšs sympatique accueil de cette rĂ©gion et vive l'Irlande et les Vive les Irlandais!

Family Visit

The setting and location can not be beaten, The facillities were also very good. Theres plenty of space and you'll find everything you could want, including two comfortable and spacious lounges both with smart TV's including Netflix, Apple etc. There is a downside in that the whole property is looking a bit tired and is in need of some TLC. Also it really needs a deep clean and dusting. With a bit of time and money spent, this could easily be an outstanding 5 star holiday let.

Perfect location

The property provided us with everything we needed. While there may have been small things that would have improved our stay further we were perfectly comfortable and the location was wonderful, whatever the weather. Just stayed at Ivor‘s house on the shores of Clew Bay and it was brilliant. The photos in the listing don’t really do it justice as the space available to you is huge. All the facilities are spot-on. There were a few goodies for us in the fridge when we arrived and they even put up a Xmas tree as we were there for Xmas. Communication was great. The surrounding area is beautiful. Lots of history and lots of places to go walking, lots of history. Highly recommended.Suits family’s, and those with kids too

I big house with plenty of space. Everything there which is needed. Within a shourt time we feel like at home. Beautiful view from front (sea) and bach ( green gras and sheeps). We recommend the the house very much. Owner and housekeeper are very friendly. Cantact per E-mail ! Check in with key-box without problems and perfect description of the way to the house. A few things have to be renovated or replaced, but that doesnt matter for us. Nice fireplace ! Washing machine, dryer and dishwasher in the house. Comfortable beds ! Wonderful peaceful retreat

Ivory’s house is a perfect peaceful hideaway with fantastic views! The property is fenced all the way around except for the driveway which has a cattle grate making it a very safe place for my dog to run free without worry. From beautiful tidal walks to enjoying sitting in the warm sunporch, we had a lovely stay! Hoping to come again. Highly recommend.

Fabulous coastal stay

The property is large and was ideally arranged for us. Coming in from the beach or a walk into a utility area so the wet kayaking gear could be removed and hung up. We were able to put the dog crate in the next room, plenty of space so she went straight in from outside. We took a ramp for the one step at the back so my wheelchair got in. There are however 2 steps from the lounge up to the bedrooms, so not fully wheelchair accessible. I was able to cope with the 2 steps Both lounges have comfortable reclining sofas. Excellent having 2 lounges if you are a larger group. The kitchen was very well stocked, and brilliant supply of food, cooking bits and pieces. One of the best i have been to. The master bedroom has a superb view and for me to be able to rest or stay in bed and see the bay was fantastic. All the bedrooms looked good, though we only used one. Like any property this size it is possible to find an area that is ready for some tlc, but overall a well maintained property, large gardens right on the shoreline, superb views all ways round a fantastic place to stay. Highly recommend for everyone but especially if you want to use the bay for boating of any description. Lovely rock pools full of life and access to the sea all day. There is not a sandy beach but plenty of access points to the water. I loved kayaking round to the castle and around the bay. Not a huge amount of wildlife, but we did see herons and egrets one week was too short

Quiet and relaxing

We stayed for 2 weeks last year and 3 weeks this time. We have already asked for 4 weeks next year! Neither fashionable nor modern (the refrigerator is vintage 1970), it is the quiet respite we love and the location for daily drives and coffee looking out at Clew Bay. The housekeeper has made a huge difference in its upkeep, treated us as “her wee Americans” and gave us fabulous ideas for things to do, including Clew Bay Charters. We will count the days until we return.

Spacious and cozy with a beautiful view

Our family of 5 stayed for a little over a week over the Christmas holiday. When we arrived there was a lovely welcome package awaiting us, all necessities were laid out and the home was cozy and warm. It was a wonderful way to start our stay in a gorgeous corner of Ireland. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen equipped with everything one could need, including non-perishables in abundance, and if the weather had been more clement, we would have taken advantage of the outdoor patio and large yards. With two living rooms and plenty of comfortable seating, everyone had space to read or relax after hikes in the region. We would definitely stay here again as it is a great launching spot for walks in both South and North Mayo and the cities of Newport and Westport are both well-worth visiting.

At Home in County Mayo

We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay at the house near Newport in County Mayo. The house was very clean and well equipped. We could have easily stayed there on a long term basis. Contact with the owner and with the local manager was excellent. The location was beautiful on Clew Bay and there were numerous activities and walks in the local area, with the Wild Atlantic Way, Achill Island and Nephin National Park close by. The towns of Westport and Castlebar were a short drive away and had excellent shopping and dining options. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.
