First time we stayed at the hotel. Staff welcoming and friendly, there to help. Room was clean, lovely with a beautiful view. Food was delicious. Will be going back with friends and family.

The hotel was very pet friendly excellent service and food with a mini dish of fried sausages for my dog at breakfast time. Also very convenient for Widecombe in the Moor for their fair the next day.

Fabulous location, amazing garden, beautifully laid out and very peaceful. I loved the fact that I could fully open the windows in my room. The staff were very invested in providing an excellent service for customers and succeeded in doing so. Rooms were well appointed with plenty of storage space. The mattress was amazing, best nights sleep in a hotel, ever. Was not so keen on the telephone system - prefer someone to answer the phone rather than pushing buttons and then being advised that no one is available. Not sure what is achieved by the digital pre-book, seems like just an extra thing to do. Looking forward to staying again

Das Hotel ist wirklich erstklassisch mit allem. Sie sollten sich einfach frĂŒher beim Gast melden, damit die wissen wer kommt, da strenge Regeln betr. Hunde. Wir mussten fĂŒr die erste unserer gebuchten NĂ€chte ein anderes Zimmer suchen, weil sie kein Hundezimmer frei hatten. WĂ€hrend der Reise macht das nicht Spass. Davon abgesehen gibts nichts zu beanstanden. Saubere Zimmer mit Gartensitzplatz, extra fĂŒr Hundebesitzer. Sogar eine Hunde-Geschenkbox. Lage im Dartmoor ruhig und NĂ€he Darmoor-Besucherzentrum. Essen super lecker. Ein Ort zum Abschalten und sich wohl fĂŒhlen.

Mostly enjoyable

We did enjoy our stay The Moorland Hotel Haytor, it was spotlessly clean,very compfortable seating both inside and out, the food we had was all freshly cooked and delicious with a good choice. All of the staff were extreemly helpful,friendly and polite and were excellent at their job even when it was very busy.The Hotel is set in beautiful gardens where you can enjoy a relaxing stroll and of course, Dartmoor itself. Our one and only issue was our room. Again,it was spotlessly clean and modern we found the bed to be too firm but that is only our preferance however, our little gripe, was that we were continually awakened by noise from the room above us and next door, there is very little insulation. The noise was not people partying,just general,i.e. people talking,walking about,televisions,closing drawers and wardrobes etc. If,like us,you are a light sleeper it can get a tadge annoying,particularly after midnight/early hours however, if you're lucky enough to be able to sleep through an army marching up the corridor etc. then this Hotel is perfect.

Great location for exploring the moors.

Friendly welcome and would happily stay longer. Lovely meal in pub on premises. Very dog friendly and mine loved his nibbles and toy in the room, when we arrived

We stay here two or three times a year. The staff are nice and the rooms super clean and comfortable. This is a well run hotel. And good value.

Disappointing

I booked my family into this hotel for a short stay, to celebrate my mums 80th birthday. To be fair, mum asked that her room wasn't cleaned on one day as she wanted a lie in. No one came to check later though. I had to take a bag of dirty crockery to the reception desk. Her room wasn't cleaned thoroughly the next day- her bed wasn't made. Mum hasn't stayed in a hotel for years and she was really disappointed with this. My aunt found a lot of dark pubic hairs on her bathroom floor, which she did report (my mum was too anxious to say anything). Communication prior to this stay was also very poor. I sent 2-3 messages asking if we could check in a bit early if we arrived early, as mum has some health issues. No one replied. I tried phoning. No one answered the phone. I also asked if they could do anything to make mum feel special as this was a significant birthday celebration - nothing.

Superb location near Haytor on Dartmoor. Very comfortable bed, friendly helpful staff. Lovely views over the garden and surrounding area from the restaurant. Excellent food in the restaurant but it was pricey. Excellent tasteful decor in the lounge which matched the moorland area very well. Recommended
