Opoutere - Nat's Place

Nat's Place started life as a basic little Kiwi bach in 1959. Since then it has been extended and modernised several times and now comprises a kitchen area, living room, lounge, bathroom, four bedrooms and two decks. A complete new kitchen has recently been installed and the dining room and living room furniture upgraded.
Just ten minutes drive from Whangamata. Parking right at the door. Relax on the deck and enjoy the stunning views of the estuary - the views change with the weather, time and tide. Go swimming straight out in front of the bach or walk or drive down to the surf beach. Climb School Hill for spectacular views out to Slipper Island and beyond. Enjoy boating on the estuary - the bach is directly opposite the boat ramp - or try fishing from the little jetty.
Special conditions:
The price listed is for 2 adults. There is an additional charge of $20 per day for each extra adult and $15 per day for school-aged children. Pre-schoolers are free.

Extras:
Linen: Optional, for a $15 per person flat fee. Contact us after your booking has been confirmed if you would like to have linen provided.
Cleaning: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to clean the house and do the dishes before you leave. But in response to recent requests, we now offer the option of having the bach cleaned after you leave, for a fee of $70. Contact us after your booking has been confirmed if you would like to take up this offer.

Comfortable, well-set up retro bach with good view of the estuary over the road, boat ramp and distant sandspit; especially good if you like birdsong and birdwatching; nice local walks along harbour edge, to jetty, through native bush, tidal marsh, pine forest, and ocean beach. New kayaks for guest use are an excellent recent addition, most appreciated. Plenty of beds and room options. Rare pet-friendly rental. BYO deck chairs and sun umbrella. Safety fencing for pets or kids would earn it a 5-star rating, fyi.

Opoutere is a hidden gem. Tranquil, majestic with a richness of birdlife that is rare in NZ. Host was warm and friendly. Bach is a typical kiwi bach - basic but complete - somewhere that you don't mind walking into with sand in your toes. It has everything you need and more. Loved the kayaks.

Great set up, still has a rustic family Bach feel to it, so quiet and peaceful, master bed could be a bit better, easy to live in with a few people. Love the birds around the place . Love it here, you feel relaxed as soon as you arrive

A little gem in paradise.

We had such a restful and relaxing stay at Nats Place....for a second time. Nats Place is a stereotypical, good old fashioned kiwi beach bach with a mesmerising view over the Wharekawa Harbour. It has everthing needed to make your holiday comfortable. The stunning Opoutere beach is a leisurely walk away, or drive, and offers a 5km walk from one end to the other, or just stretch out and relax in the sun. Whangamata offers everything you could need on holiday and is only a 10 minute drive away.

A beautiful get away spot

We really enjoyed this accommodation. It reminded us of our Grandparents home. Full of character and comforts. The fire was cozy and the view was stunning. We loved the location as it was away from the hustle and bustle.

Beautiful location

Lovely location and cute little bach with stunning views. Not the cleanest unfortunately with the bedding covers needing washing and the house generally not clean. The carport area had recycling and various bins with rubbish sitting around and in the way of car access. Not having curtains made it feel a little uncomfortable, especially when staying alone. This detracted from the stay.
