Wonderful location!

This apartment is in a perfect location for enjoying all Orleans has to offer! A quick walk over the bridge brings you directly into downtown and all its restaurants, shops, galleries, and other attractions. The building is large and was well spread-out for our group of five adults and one infant, with a rooftop deck, eat-in dining room, spacious first-floor shower room with laundry, and living room with couch and floor space. Very much appreciated the host accommodating our request for a baby crib, and for the responsiveness for other inquiries. We had a truly fantastic stay—Orleans was a real highlight of our vacation! One word of caution to potential guests (this is not the fault of the host, but worth noting!) is that the stairs are quite steep and have sharp turns, both the set going from the downstairs shower to the room with loft and from the main floor to the second floor in the front of the house. The steps themselves are solid, but a word of caution for walking around in socks, taking the steps too fast, or not being terribly sure-footed (we had a trip and fall on each staircase by different folks in our group during our stay, all of whom are very active/otherwise nimble folks!). It seems worth mentioning that the rental is likely not well-suited for those with balance issues, or those who might not be comfortable navigating steep, curving stairwells to get to a bathroom or up to bed at night. All in all a terrific visit in a very cool old home.

Great base for family to explore Orleans

Our family (2 adults, 3 children age 14,12,4) really enjoyed this property - quirky and attractive layout and decoration, all the facilities we wanted, and perfect location to explore Orleans for a few days: close enough to explore the key sites easily but being just across the river also quiet for the family in the evening. Parking was easy to find along the road outside the property. The host was very helpful, communications were quick and effective.

Les accès aux chambres sont difficiles surtout la 3ème chambre. Les toilettes dans la cuisine ne sont pas du tout pratiques.Il serait souhaitable que cela apparaisse dans le descriptif.

Voici nos griefs pour ces vacances ratées:Dans le descriptif et les photos de l'annonce rien n'est dit sur le fait qu'il n'y a pas de fenêtres dans cette enfilade de pièces au rez-de-chaussée de chaussée: la pièce à vivre, et dans la cuisine: seul point de lumière naturelle se situe à l'extrême, dans la salle à manger toit vitré, mais la pièce est sans chauffage et attenante à une buanderie glaciale. Nous n'avons pas pu prendre nos repas dans cette pièce.Dans cette buanderie un escalier sommaire de type " échelle de meunier" permet d'accéder à une chambre où le radiateur électrique ne vient pas à bout de cette passoire thermique. Nous sommes arrivés dans ce lieu très froid et nous avons dû réclamer du chauffage, car même si il faisait un temps froid à l'extérieur (-1 voir -3 la nuit), le programme de chauffage alternatif restait en vigueur. nous avons gelé la nuit ,et avons dû à nouveau réclamer une continuité du chauffage.Le ménage'était douteux: moutons à l'entrée, tapis d'entrée pas propre, toile d'araignée dans la salle de bains.Les matelas des deux chambres du haut étaient déformés, le linge de lits de piètre qualité.Le propriétaire a répondu, en essayant de justifier le fonctionnement, et il nous fallait insister pour qu'il accède partiellement à nos demandes.Nous n'avons pas pu le joindre directement par téléphone et il n'a pas proposé de venir au gîte.Nous sommes partis le 28 au matin à la place du 30 en lui envoyant un message écrit.

Gite très bien placé mais manque d'entretien

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l'emplacement de la maison, sa propreté et sa configuration. Cependant, le gite manque d'entretien régulier: certains meubles sont cassés ou ne fonctionnent pas (chaise, tiroirs, placards...), la vaisselle pourrait bénéficier d'un réassort (4 bols pour 8, saladier cabossé, couteaux inutilisables...) et l'atmosphère du logement est très humide.
