Beachcomber Cottage is located in Anchorage Cottages & Retreat Center on the sandy shores of the Great Lake Huron. It is 1 of 6 cottages on the property. This rustic cabin is fully furnished and has shared beachfront a few feet away from your door. Picnic tables, firepits, a charcoal grill and beach furniture help round out your quintessential Up North experience here in Oscoda.
My wife and I stayed here for an unusually warm October weekend. We were able to enjoy the beautiful beach front and stroll both downtown Oscoda and Tawas. The cabin is cozy and inviting and there are plenty of amenities including a firepit, grill, beach chairs, full kitchen, and even an area accessible to all the cabins on site full of movies and games to use. Keep in mind these arenât a ârusticâ cabin as you do have a functional bathroom, full kitchen, etc, however they are not a hotel. They have a cabin smell and feel, the bathroom is small, and there is no air conditioning, but there are box fans. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much. We would book here again for an affordable weekend getaway.
Pros: -Location, located, location -Ease of check-in-Great beach-Short drive to Tawas & Oscoda Cons:-Extremely small hot water tank...5 minute shower if you're lucky.-bathroom had a very noticeable 'B.O.' odor upon check-in.-No air conditioning (which is fine) but the box fans located in the unit were extremely dirty & disgusting. All-in-all you get what you pay for. With as primitive/rustic as it was, if we were to do it again we wouldn't return to this location. For the price point we would probably try an rv-share and get a little more bang for you buck.Fantastic beach but 'beachcomber' needs some attention, especially when it comes to the bathroom.
