We like the place for one night, a stop between Astoria and North Bend; good surprise for being close to Rainier National Park with easy trails around. Shall come back for a longer stay.
Not sure why it has such high ratings. The floor in our room was dirty, as was the floor outside our room. The beds are hard and uncomfortable and the ceilings and walls are thin. The room upstairs was loud and we could hear everything. Given other available options, we will not stay here again.
The front desk staff was unpleasant. The hotel lost power and running water on our first night, and refused to offer a refund or discount for the inconvenience.
The property provided the proximity to the park we were looking for during peak season when so much was booked during our last minute planning. It is true that walls are this and sound traveled. A highlight was waking up to 6+ Elk walking the road outside our window.
Unfortunately, the Crest Trail Lodge was one of the worst hotels Iâve stayed at in years. While lodging options in Packwood are limited, I recommend to look elsewhere. 3 things stood out in a negative way:
1- As mentioned in other reviews, the staff was the rudest Iâve ever experienced. I never felt welcome
2- There is virtually no sound proofing. We could hear every movement of our upstairs neighbours
3- The basics were not in place: poor wifi, no breakfast options
To be fair, the property is clean and comfortable. However, the front desk staff was quite unwelcoming during check-in. We arrived an hour early with a car full of luggage, but were bluntly told that early check-in was not possible and that they couldnât store our bags. As a result, we had to visit the park with all our luggage in the car, which was inconvenient and disappointing. A bit more courtesy and flexibility would have made a big difference.
