Bedroom 3: 2 x Single (3ft) Beds. Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Fuel for open fire available locally. Patio with garden furniture. Garage with table tennis. Bike store. Private parking for 3 cars. No smoking.. Conveniently set among the woodland on the edge of the village of Glenridding, this detached Lakeland cottage stands in an elevated position. The area is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and a haven for a variety of wild birds and red squirrel; wild deer have even been seen on the patio. Just 1/4 mile from Glenridding village with pubs, shops, cafes, restaurants, access to lake steamers, boat and bike hire. Walking and climbing nearby. Shop and pubs 550 yards.



The track is fairly steep to the property and not suitable for very low-slung vehicles but is quite passable for most cars. However, you can leave your car at the bottom of the track towards Galena and walk up if you prefer, but please do not block the main track which leads to other houses further along. The track is in a « dog leg » shape, cars can also be parked at the « dog leg » turn if preferred to driving right up to the house.

Approach to property is by a rough or gravel track.

We return to this cottage time and time again.

We return to this cottage time and time again. Our children love the space and how wild it is, and it is really homey and comfy with the most amazing views. The owners are absolutely lovely and you would be hard pushed to find a more beautiful location in the lakes. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Well located on the edge of Glenridding giving easy access to Helvellyn, the surrounding fells and Lake Ullswater. The cottage is up a steep driveway off a private road, with plenty of parking providing a secluded and private position. Great location, easy reach of pubs and hotels and fantastic lake walks. No mobile reception or internet can be a problem if you need to keep in touch with the outside world. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to a weak WiFi area. Cottage lovely and just right for our party of 5 adults

A comfortable house, hidden away in the trees. Great variety of birds. The house is a bit warn and needs some attention. There were only 3 wine glasses. Overall we had a comfortable stay and a great holiday.

Great location for families who enjoy walking. Set high up, nestled into the hill side it feels time has stood still. Well equipped kitchen. We loved it despite some areas being a little grubby and tired e.g bathroom Although must say having two loos was great. Owners very helpful.

We have been to Galena many times and always have a lovely time. It’s secluded yet within a 5 minute walk to restaurants and local shops. On the way home I was already texting the hosts for availability to visit again.

Galena is a real get-away-from-it-all gem, deep within the English Lake District close to the villag

Galena is a real get-away-from-it-all gem, deep within the English Lake District close to the village of Glenridding. It has an elevated position, with Ullswater in sight from the livingroom window. The cottage was cosy and warm (we were there January) and had everything we needed. The location was very quiet. All the places you are most likely to visit (Keswick, Kendal, Windermere, Ambleside, Consiton) are within short driving distance of the cottage. The only fly-in-the-ointment was perhaps not being allowed to stay on 2 extra hours on departure day (until 12pm). This was apparently to accommodate the cleaner rather than the guests! A bit disappointing given that it was low season and there didn't appear to be anyone coming in behind us. That said, we would return as it was a delightful cottage and not much to fault with it in the main.
