The Neighborhood:
Between the beach towns of Pevensey and Eastbourne, the hamlet of Stone Cross is situated close to Polegate. There are a few basic utilities in Stone Cross, and there are numerous pubs and tea shops in Polegate and Hailsham where you may get all you need on a daily basis. There are various locations close to the cottage where you can access the Cuckoo Trail, a 14-mile network of paths for walking and bicycling from which you can breathe in the Sussex air and take in the scenery. As one of England's oldest castles, the village of Pevensey offers visitors the chance to travel back in time as they tour the imposing ruins or explore the dungeons. Pevensey Bay is also a haven for wildlife, so while you're here, why not have a dip in the water? A day at Drusillas Zoo makes for a memorable experience for kids of all ages. You may also spend the day in the village of Alfriston, which has cobblestone streets and antique stores.
