Booked accessible room. It had a king bed It was small for a person in a wheelchair plus a companion. The bathroom was huge tho. Asked to be moved and they were very accommodating but since other rooms had step downs we decided to separate the bed into twins, which gave us more room for the chair to maneuver. The property is beautiful and quiet. The staff was friendly. We enjoyed our stay. If you need to book the accessible room, be sure to ask for twin beds from the get go.
Itâs beautiful to stay here. Quiet and clean. A little bench by the door so you can sit under the eves and see the ocean. Bring what you need itâs a bit of a drive to grab things. Although, if you forget something, town has a few things if youâre not picky.
This is a fun place to visit with the tallest lighthouse on the West Coast. The Keeper's Apartment is very comfortable and well equipped, though we went into town to eat. Definitely visit the lighthouse and make the trek to the top. The weather wasn't great, but it was December. Still we had one day where it wasn't raining.
Just a really unique experience to have uninterrupted views of the Mendocino coast out of windows on both sides of the house, and a view of the lighthouse from the bedroom! The place was clean and spacious. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner!
It was definitely cold here but my girlfriend and I were not only ready for it, it had been 110 degrees most of the week where we came from so it was a great getaway.
Very beautiful area. The lighthouse tour was free with our stay and we enjoyed it. Not a ton of food options around but good food nonetheless. Well taken care of property right on the ocean. It was a great retreat for an easy do nothing weekend.
Loved it.
This was, by far, the best trip my partner and I have ever been on, and had it not been for the staff at Point Arena Lighthouse, it likely wouldnât have happened at all.
My partner and I have a kiddo who has suffered mental health struggles their whole life, and who has recently taken a turn for the worse. We had this trip planned for months, but when we found ourselves back in and out of the ER again, we knew we had to cancel. The staff were so gentle and understanding, and even allowed us to try to offer the trip to my sister-in-law instead so it wouldnât go to waste, but unfortunately she wasnât able to go either. With broken hearts and exhausted spirits, we gave up.
But suddenly, without warning, an opportunity for our kiddo opened up and we were able to get them into the right support SIGNIFICANTLY earlier than we were told weâd be able to!! We jumped at the opportunity and our kiddo was in! We got home, sat down, and realized that weâd not be busy after all, and the staff graciously let us take back our notice of cancellation at the very last minute!
Every staff member we engaged with was kind and professional, and the property cat even let my partner pet her!
The views are UNREAL. Pro-tip: make a piping hot cup of coffee and hike the gazebo trail. Flocks of pelicans soaring at face-height, waves crashing against the cliffs, and seals basking in the sun below you. EPIC!!
2 days felt like a week of rest here. 10/10 will be back!!
The location is amazing and I was happy to support the non-profit working to maintain the property.
We stayed in the Head keeper's House which was well appointed and had great views of the lighthouse and of the surf. The beds were comfortable and the fireplace was cozy. In most ways it met or exceeded my expectations.
Unfortunately I can't give more than 3 stars as we woke up to a massive woodbug infestation. Maybe this was a one-off event but there were easily dozens of the insects crawling around when we got up, mostly around the main bedroom. My wife was offput by the carcases left on the floor that clearly remained from bugs we'd inadvertently stepped on during bathroom breaks over night.
