There's a restaurant on site, as well as a coffee shop/cafe. You can enjoy a drink at the bar/lounge. WiFi is free in public spaces. Karribank also features barbecue grills, a garden, and a picnic area. Free self parking is available.
Spectacular property and I will look forward to the next time I stay at Karribank as the new owners and their plans are impressive an I have no doubt they will make a world class venue at Karribank.
We knew the property was undergoing renovation, so were aware of that. Sadly they had had lots of rain the day before we arrived, so were in damage control.
we look forward to our next visit when the rennos are complete and the wifi works.
What I like: Quiet, big area
Suggestions: it would be much better if you make your own play ground for the kids to playing while weâre relaxing at home.
The property had a lovely charm about it. The owner is actively renovating the accommodation. The bed was comfy, and the scenery was awesome. We would stay again.
We had a slightly difficult experience on arrival (New Years Day at 6pm) with the staff recovering from they previous nights festivities and all the phones went unanswered despite having called earlier to confirm possible late arrival.
Fortunately this was resolved as we were abandoning the property when a resident or staff member called out and then confirmed we were in fact expected and found our key.
On checking in we found a well set out cabin with good facilities albeit with no air conditioning. As we were new to the area and had just arrived from Victoria we then found there were no local place open for meals and being a public holiday the nearest place likely to have any facilities open was Albany about an hours drive away.
Overall I would have been pleased to get a little more basic information in advance although overall we were reasonably content. We later also found that when the second cabin in our block was occupied the last night that the slightest sound on either cabin was shared with its neighbour. This resulted in a mid evening request from our neighbour to turn off our TV, lights and stop talking as we were keeping two restless children awake.
The online marketing information is a bit overstated and missing what might be seen as useful information. That said with the exception of sound proofing the location and facilities were perfectly suitable for a couple on a self drive holiday. The cabin cooled quickly, and had everything we needed.
There wasn't air condition at the room. When we get there, temperature was 41 degree celcus. When we open the room door, hot air was burning toward us. I asked them portable aircon or something to cool the room. Unfortunatelly, they hadn't any thing to help us.
Excellent location in Porongurup. Perfect for hiking and admiring the beautiful scenery. The property is stunning and although the accommodation is a little tired, it doesnât deter from the experience.
Karribank was awesome! Ideal place to bring kids, they were running around all day. Plus beautiful hill views and the warmest hospitality. We'll definitely be back
Quirky old school vibes with a touch of back to nature. Took me back to when I was a kid. My kids loved the cottage and we will defs be back to stay again. Thankyou the Radford clan
Excellent place for holiday. The floor is wooden the reason why there are little bit noise from Neihbour however thatâs not a problem. Itâs manageable. Overall itâs a nice.
We enjoyed our stay at Karribank. This was despite having booked what we thought was a Cottage we found ourselves in Chalet type accommodation with a mezzanine. Beds were clean and comfortable but the general surrounds werenât up to scratch. A bedside light would have been useful upstairs rather than having to stand on the bed to try and reach a short pull chord. The heater was at times difficult to light. The Restaurant/Bar (when Open) was adequate but the Bar staff pleasant. Food served in Takeaway containers.
A pleasant enough stay in beautiful surrounds but not 4 Star.
A calm, relaxing place with your full privacy. We spent 3 beautiful days in this place and would certainly come back! On a side note, there's no network coverage except for Telstra. There are no air cons, but you won't need them anyways. Love this place!!!
The cabin had a lovely Verandah but there were no fly screens on the French doors. Flyscreen here would be great so that you can open the doors to the outside without worrying about flies and mosquitoes. The kitchen was very basic and I was disappointed because I thought there was an oven. But still managed to cook nice meals. Overall the stay was lovely, we had a great time and love the location.
1. It was very cold and the oil-filled radiator was totallly inadequate for heating up the room.
As we were merely handed the key when we arrived and were not shown what was available, we did not find out that there was another heating appliance in the room until the next day. In fact, when the owner came to our room in the evening of the first day the get the TV working on the ABC, we commented how the radiator was totally useless in heating the room, he commented that we should 'cuddle up' to stay warm. Not a very helpful suggestion to a couple of 83-years olds!
2. The kapok quilt is so heavy that any elderly client would have problems turning around in bed. It weighs a ton and belongs in another century. We removed it for the second night and used our travel rug and down clothing items to get a reasonably comfortable sleep.
