I had to stay here unexpectedly after arriving in Port McNeill on the last ferry from Alert Bay. There is no front desk at this hotel, and I was only able to check in by asking at the nearby pub. However, the pub closes at 10 PM, while the last ferry arrives at 10:30 PM — so I was lucky to have made it in time. Otherwise, I might not have been able to check in at all.
The room itself was clean, but unfortunately, I could hear every footstep and conversation from the room above. It made for a very uncomfortable and restless stay.
Door was in poor condition and difficult to lock and unlock.
2 sites some distance apart and poor signage as to where to go to get key. Fortunately a cleaner on site.
Not enough creamer supplied.
Curtain but no blockout blinds.
No explanation for working coffee machine.
It was nice and quiet in the evening but as soon as 8am hit it was quite loud. Plus being the only people at the place we were put next to a building where people and trucks were going too. TV was quiet tiny but overall it was a decent one night stay

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Staff was really nice, friendly and accommodating; however, it was weird to check in at the pub. The rooms were way bigger than expected. One of the rooms was too hot and we had to open the door. Overall it was a good experience and it’s right in front of the water so the view is very nice.

We booked at the Sportsmans, when we got there a sign on the door said to go next door to Gus's Pub. They were very nice and knew all about our reservation. Which turned out to be in a different building 'The McNeil Inn'. I realize that it's a small town and they are trying to stay afloat but wasn't expecting to hear karaoke till 12:30 after a day of traveling.
Area was great, room was cute but a bit small and no chairs to sit on. Bed was very soft felt like I was falling out of bed at the edge but over all cute.
The room was clean enough, the beds were comfortable and the coffee in the room waa tasty. The room, especially the bathroom smelled very musty and the bathtub is in dire need of some new caulking. On the day of our arrival, the cold water tap in the bathtub was stripped so our showers were pure hot water. It was fixed by the afternoon of the second day. I paid 72.00 more per night on hotels.com than other families paid for the same nights so be careful and do your research before you book.
