My family and I stayed 3 nights. We didn't want to leave. The staff were so lovely, the facilities modest yet so homely. We felt really relaxed here. We did the beach side cafe, saw a sunset, had fish and chips, ventured the dunes, playgrounds and convenience store. Heck all I need to do now is win lotto and invest locally. Such a beautiful location. Thanks guys.
We had a two bedroom cabin, even there were only two of us. It was very quiet, and a nice large unit. It was clean and tidy, and had everything we needed. We would go there again.
I would definitely recommend camping here the staff are amazing welcoming and helpful the camping grounds is very clean it's like a home away from home
Stayed in the 6 person motel unit, probably 4 more comfortably than 6, but for the two of us though it was great and had everything we needed. Could do with a modern heater/aircon and spruce up but was a very clean room and staff were helpful and friendly.
Absolutely enjoyed our stay, leaving refreshed and happy. Wonderful customer service, lovely locals, felt safe, able to enjoy myself and well informed on good fishing spots. Will be returning and recommending to family.
I liked the spacious two bedroomed cabin. Perfect for our needs.
On the downside I had written to ask about the dog policy before arrival, were dogs allowed inside etc, and was told dogs were welcome and were $5 each that was all. Unfortunately I was told on arrival that dogs were not allowed inside but had to stay on the deck or in the car. As it poured with rain onto the deck the dog had to get wet or stay in the car. I had my own cage and bedding so disappointed my dog couldnt go in it inside at night. I would not have gone there if I had known. We had been 10 days away and all the 5 other dog friendly places allowed them inside. We are responsible dog owners so never left any evidence of a dog behind. I think it should have been made absolutely clear the dogs are not allowed inside as other places do.
Reception was sullen when we arrived. There is nowhere to eat in Port Waikato for many days of the week - you have to go to Tuakau 20 minutes away to find any eating place.
