Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Before leaving our accommodation to head to this apartment, while still using wifi, I checked us in and the last communication was that someone would meet us at location for 330pm. The emails warned of penalties for a late check in time. When we arrived no one was there so we sat and waited...and waited..and waited some more. Eventually, we tried to phone the number that was provided. It didnt go through to anyone. The "free wifi" zone in Portofino was extremely dodgy. We ended up having to take the shuttle bus back into Santa Margherita and finding a cafe with wifi. Through the helpful service on Expedia we were able to find out that the owner had TEXT us with instructions to let ourselves in. Of course, my phone was not receiving text messages while visiting Europe. We took the shuttle back to Portofino and were able to get inside. The suite is advertised as having a washer and dryer. There is NO DRYER. Our bedding had no fitted sheet. Extremely bare bones accommodation. The couch was filthy and stained. The hot water tank allowed for 10 MINUTES of HOT WATER in a tiny gringy bathroom. Portofino is beautiful but do not there! Make a day trip(s) in and stay in Santa Margherita. Prices and amenities are far better. Its also a beautiful walk..or a shuttle away! This accommodation was the absolute worst of our visit to Italy.
