Felicidad 2 Bed 2 Bath by FMI Rentals
Find your happiness here! Rocky Point vacation homes tend to be bright and colorful, with amazing views of the sea - or they can be like this one and actually sit on the beach! Step off your patio and the beach starts there - walk a few yards and your toes are touching the water's edge - can it get much better than this? Well, as a matter of fact it can and it does when you're staying in this cozy beachside 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage! Mint green stucco walls with dancing kokopelli figures and skittish geckos line the outside walls of the cottage, hinting at an interior that is both whimsical and fun. Shall we step inside and discover for ourselves? Happy colors Turquoise walls, mimicking the color of the seas, give you the feeling of living in a life-sized aquarium when you first open the door to this fairy tale beach cottage. Under the sea artwork and giant fish figurines attached to the walls of the living room intensify that feeling, and the sandy beach framed by the clear blue waters of the sea that are visible through the oversized sliders will soon have you wondering if you have grown gills! Open the patio doors and smell the briny scent of the ocean as you feel the salty air kiss the skin of your cheeks.
The couch in this living room opens into a queen sized bed; this may be your happy spot, but keep looking, there's more to see. The fully equipped kitchen with its sherbet color cabinets and colorful Mexican tiles are sure to bring a smile to your face while preparing breakfasts that can be eaten at the generous sized breakfast bar, or more formal dinners served at the dining room set nestled cozily in front of sliding glass doors that lead out to a charming open air courtyard containing a charcoal barbecue grill perfect for grilling the fresh fish you catch each day.
First, let me say the house is spotless. And the the patio opens right onto the beach which was exactly what we wanted.
You should know the listing and photos are from a previous life and are no longer accurate. The property is run down. The BBQ that is mentioned is broken and lying on its side in the courtyard. A courtyard that once upon a time had palm trees and plants and now has giant holes covered by boards.
This home has stairs. Not many but enough to be problematic to elderly people. The showers have deep sunken floors. Easily an 6-8 inch drop in with no hand rails. And the wet tile floors are slick!
The homes cabinetry is ancient. The cabinets and drawers either hang open or stick shut.
The kitchen is not fully furnished like the listing says. There are metal pots and well used frying pans (the kind where the Teflon is coming off and will end up in your food). There are no microwaveable dishes at all. There is an automatic coffee pot but no coffee mugs or filters. That first morning before we found the grocery store was rough!
If you intend to cook, plan to bring everything. Unlike most VRBOs there are no food basics on site such as oil, salt, pepper, sugar etc. cupboards and fridge are completely empty.
there is also no dishwasher. You will be hand washing anything you use.
The refrigerator broken upon arrival. We didnât discover that until late the night we arrived. Thankfully I had enough ice to keep food in our cooler for the night. Repair people came the next day and made it cold but also so noisy it was hard to sleep some nights.
The patio door is VERY difficult to open. Children will not be able to pull it open or closed without help. Also, it does not lock. There is a pipe you can jam in the sill from the inside. But if want to exit to the beach and walk down to Mannys for a couple of hours you will need to bring a padlock.
Lastly, a user guide for the little things would have been handy. There were no instructions for how to use the TV. The Directv was offline when we arrived. I think there were 4 remotes we had to navigate before we could actually watch. We also had no idea where to take the trash to once it was full. There is a small market down the street you can go to if you need something small.
Theft in the area is prevalent. Donât leave anything you want keep outside overnight. It will walk away!
Other than that, it was great! I would stay here again now that I know what to expect.
Rocky Point has become so expensive. Worse than the US. For the amount we paid, we could have found a beautiful home in a nice neighborhood. Rental company was great - super professional. House was old in a run down part of town. A drunk met us at the door asking for money. Had to run him off in Spanish. The beach came up really close to the house which was the best part. Our boys were able to rent jet skis right outside of our back door. Massage ladies came to our porch to provide services and fruit guys as well. No need to walk all the way down like at the condos. Definitely will keep this place in mind if we come back.
House was clean⊠it is outdated. Needs repairs here and there. First night there we saw cockroaches in the garage. the garage sits apart from the house, no bugs inside home. Duct tape in main bathroom shower on curtain rod/wall. A lot of lamps but none plugged in or near an outlet. The lighting in living room is pretty non existent. Itâs all very dim, so made it difficult for evenings. Beds clean, adequate blankets/pillows. 2 rolls toilet paper per restroom. Stove took a really long time to heat up, there is pots and pans for use available, but I ended up using the microwave instead since the stove just never seemed to come up high enough in temp. AC worked great, kept us comfortable from the humidity! Sits directly on the beach close to mannyâs beach house so you get the music from there when your outside. Didnât hear it once inside. Wish there was a hose or shower outside so we didnât have to track sand inside to the enclosed area where hose was. Overall, would stay again for short trips.
We have stayed in many resort locations but this one far surpassed any other spot. Ocean front property was perfect. Other than the beds being a bit uncomfortable everything was perfect. We will definitely look for this one again.
We were looking to find an affordable rental in or near Rocky Point, Sonora, and found this one. At $120+/night, it wasn't particularly inexpensive. The unit was in a particularly run-down part of Rocky Point, and, unlike the descriptions and photos, it had definitely seen better days. Many light bulbs burned out, ceiling fans that didn't work, a kitchen range that had one functional burner, a "TV" that was smaller than my computer monitor at home, no beach furniture, poor water pressure, incredibly slippery shower flooring, etc. It looked like the owner had decided to let the place run down; it would have taken a handyman a half-day to make most of these things right, but, in that we were only there for three days, and didn't have a functional cellphone (common in RP), we didn't complain. People should know, though, especially at those prices, and at a post-pandemic time when the idea should be to urge people to return to a welcoming community, and not a "like it or lump it" mentality. I'm sure we'll be back to RP at some time, but not here.
Right on the beach with a garage to keep your car or toys in!!! The water pressure in the kitchen was sometimes very low but we had saw this in a review so kind of expected it. It was an awesome place to be on the beach, close to everything! The check in was extremely easy! I have nothing negative to say about our stay or the place!! We had a blast and will definitely look for this listing on our next trip!!!
Fantastic view of clear water, sunrise and sunset. Quaint, comfortable condo.
Rental office was very helpful, as we did not know what time weâd get in. Comfortable condo with secure garage. Views and beach access were wonderful! Hope to be back.
