Villa with private pool & sea view for absolute privacy and serenity.

Harkia Villas is a complex of 2 luxurious villas, villa Thimari & villa Faskomilia, designed by its owner Argiri Vasilaki. Both villas offer a unique panoramic view, by hanging over the hill Anemomilos and overlooking the Cretan Sea. The villas are perfectly located; Close to sea and mountain, allowing the guests to explore destinations in the western and eastern part of the island.

The exterior: An outdoor & private swimming pool with 4 sun loungers encircled by flowers, olive trees and grass. There is a large balcony with a pergola table for 4-6 people and a private barbecue free to use whenever you want. On the first floor of the villa there is also a large balcony with a swing for 2 people and a table with 4 chairs to enjoy the beautiful mornings and charming colours of the evening. Private parking for up to 2 cars just next to the villa.

The interior: On the ground floor there is a large living room for up to 5 people, the kitchen, the dining area and one bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a large dining table. The bedroom has two single beds with coco-mat mattresses, a small balcony and a bathroom with bathtub.

Οn the first floor there is a bedroom with a large double bed with coco-mat mattress and pillows. In addition, there is a bathroom with shower/jacuzzi and a large balcony. with spectacular view on the Cretan Sea.

Harkia Villas are built at an altitude of 500 meters and offer an experience of tranquility and nature away from the mass tourist spots. On the other hand, our guests can find restaurants, supermarkets and cafes within a 10km radius. More specifically:

- Platanias area is 10km away. In Platanias there are shops, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, gas stations, local tavernas and more. In addition, there is a sandy beach.
- The town of Rethymno is 15km away.
- The monastery of Arkadi is 8 km away. It is an important historical site and one of the must-visit spots on the island.
- Ancient Eleftherna and its museum are 20 km away.
- Margarites village famous for its ceramics is 24 km away.
- Kastro Tavern is 7km away. It is located in the village Mesi with a very nice environment and delicious food.

Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay, the hosts were fabulous and nothing was too much bother considering we managed to livl ourselves out the first night after a long drive. Fantastic welcome from Vaso including a lovely homecooked meal. The villa is lovely, we felt instantly at home. Well equipped, comfortable and clean. Loved relaxing in and by the pool.Do go and find the small kafenion behind the church up in Harkia, couldn't believe how welcome we were made to feel. From start to finish, this was one of the best rental experiences we've ever had. The communication with the owners was outstanding, they were incredibly welcoming, responsive, and genuinely cared about making sure we had everything we needed. It really made all the difference and set the tone for a relaxing, worry free trip.The property itself was perfect in every way: clean, beautifully maintained, well-equipped, and exactly as described (if not better!). This villa exceeded our expectations in every level. The location was quiet and serene with sweeping views of the wild Cretan mountains, gorge and sea. The home was spacious, in excellent working order in all regards and had the most comfortable beds Coco Mat. The owners Nick and Vasiliki are great led us with a full course dinner, wine, olive oil and fruit which was completely unexpected but very much appreciated. They are excellent people who understand Filoxenia, a Greek term referring to hospitality. I highly recommend this property for your next stay Rethymno. A car rental is a must, fyi.

Tranquillity and comfort

Our stay at the villa was very enjoyable & relaxing. The host family was extremely welcoming, attentive & generous - we enjoyed some lovely homemade meals. The villa was well- serviced. We enjoyed the large comfortable bed & found the villa, in general, well-appointed & comfortable - good air-conditionimg & appliances were much appreciated. Our pool, in the lower villa, did not enjoy the privacy we expected as the villa above has a good view of it, but this wasn't really an issue. We enjoyed the tranquility of the mountain setting & being 20 minutes from a supermarket & other facilities was fine. The proximity to Rethymno is good. Villa Harkia would be a good choice for your holiday in Western Crete.

We had the most amazing stay from start to finish. We got there after midnight due to flight times, but were offered a guide to get us there or clear directions with a code for a key box. When we got there, the property had outside lights to guide us in and a fridge with a home cooked meal in, snacks, wine, olive oil and fruit. :-). So welcoming. The next day when we woke up we realised how beautiful the villa was and the views are just stunning. There is a twisty mountain road to get up to the villa but it’s very quiet. You’ll see more goats than cars. Take your time and enjoy the scenery and all is well. The pool was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable, the showers wonderful and it was very well equipped. The villa is within half an hour of Rethymno which is delightful. We were also within an easy drive of Knossos, Chania, Heraklion and Lake Kournas. One day however, we just stayed home and enjoyed the relaxation of the villa. :-)As we had a super late flight home and as no one was due to arrive the day we left, our hosts kindly agreed that we could stay way beyond the check out time and enjoy our last day without rushing. We stayed until 4pm and we are so appreciative of the kindness. We even received a parting gift. I cannot recommend Harkia Villas enough. Simply stunning. X.

VillaThimari Beautiful !

We have recently returned from three weeks at the wonderful Villa Thimari .We usually rent a villa for our summer break and we have stayed in some lovely places . However this was far and away the best experience we have had. .Irini and her lovely parents did everything they possibly could to make us welcome providing a delicious home cooked meal on our arrival and bringing us wine olive oil cakes and scrumpy cakes. The villa was stylish but comfortable with everything you could possibly need .The roof terrace was perfect for stargazing and watching the buzzards circle and the swallows diving for a drink .The peace and quiet was a wonderful gift for us (Living in Central London) and the views were spectacular. We havent visited Crete for many years and had forgotten how hospitable generous and kind the Cretan people are, Wewill not leave it so long next time. Thank you for making our stay so memorable .Would recommend Crete and your beautiful villa every time. The Bennetts

idyllic dream-destination

We (two adults with three little children) had the lucky opportunity to live for four weeks in villa Thimari during May/June 2010. The villa is very good separated from the other one, so that the privacy is kept very well. Around the villa is nothing than pure nature with a fantastic and absolutely unspoiled panoramic view from the valley to the sea. There is an idyllic silence, the singing of the cicadas und the ringing of the goat’s bells complete the perfect Crete-experience. The villas are very well equipped and lovely furnished and decorated, there was nothing we were missing. We enjoyed especially the fantastic care of the owner and her parents. During many years of traveling to Greece we have never met such a hospitality and such good service (including culinarily highlights!). Renting a car is obligatory for the whole time: You need by car about 15 minutes to the next big supermarket, the trip to Rethmynon takes about half an hour. You can walk to the little village of Harkia, there are two taverns nearby (we mainly cooked in the villa for ourselves). RĂ©sumĂ©: The villas are absolutely recommendable! Only people in search for noise and trouble shall search elsewhere for an accommodation.

Au pays des chĂšvres de montagne

Accueil des plus chaleureux. PropretĂ© intĂ©rieure et extĂ©rieure impeccable, vue imprenable, lit douillet et trĂšs confortable, tout est fourni, incluant Ă©pices, huile d’olive, savon etc. Épicerie, et boutiques et restos Ă  Samou. Mets crĂ©tois offerts gratuitement par Vaso. Margarites, Maroulas, Arkadiou, et bien sĂ»r Rethymno, les plages et autres lieux connus rapidement accessibles. Route de montagne pour se rendre Ă  la villa est une expĂ©rience inoubliable. Endroit calme et paisible, parfait pour dĂ©connecter, si vous le souhaitez. Famille Vasilakis: hĂŽte de choix. Piscine super bien entretenue.

Nous n avons passé qu'une petite semaine dans la villa de Argiri et Irini à Harkia mais cela a été une semaine de vrai bonheur. un séjour dans la villa Harkia ,loin des turpitudes de la ville , en pleine nature , est une véritable cure de jouvence. L'accueil trÚs chaleureux de Irini , les cadeaux de bienvenue, la propreté des lieux, la vue magnifique, la nature omniprésente, la piscine, tout pour donner envie de revenir. Un grand merci à la famille Valisiki pour leur accueil et pour cette merveilleuse semaine dans un cadre authentique et naturel . Gilbert Bonnet .une semaine du 27 juin au 4 juillet 2017

magnifique villa et adorables hĂŽtes!

Nous avons passĂ© une formidable semaine Ă  la Villa Faskomilia. La maison en elle mĂȘme est vraiment top, bien Ă©quipĂ©e, propre, fonctionnelle, et la vue est Ă  tomber par terre. Dans les collines il rĂšgne un calme apaisant juste bercĂ© par le bruit des chĂšvres qui gambadent. Et que dire des hĂŽtes ils sont adorables. le jour de notre arrivĂ©e ils nous avaient prĂ©parĂ© notre repas pour que nous puissions nous poser tranquillement. Le mĂ©nage est fait tous les 2 jours avec changement de serviettes, lits refaits.... et a chaque fois ils arrivent les bras chargĂ© de nouveaux plats pour nous faire dĂ©couvrir la cuisine crĂ©toise. Merci encore Ă  la famille Vasilaki! C'est vacances ont Ă©tĂ© riche en dĂ©couvertes la CrĂȘte est vraiment une Ăźle magnifique et vraiment reposante et apaisante dans ce cadre parfait.

PARFAIT ! PERFECT!

Nous avons passé de trÚs bonnes vacances durant 2 semaines. Nous étions avec 2 enfants durant notre séjour et tout le monde a apprécié la villa. La villa est vraiment comme sur les photos : en trÚs bon état à l'intérieur et l'extérieur. TrÚs bien entretenue et trÚs propre. D'ailleurs la propriétaire passait tous les 2 jours pour nettoyer intérieur et extérieur (bonne surprise car cela n'est pas précisé sur l'annonce!) Les propriétaires sont extrÚmement gentils et aimables. Ils offrent une bouteille d'huile qui est excellente!. La propriétaire nous a cuisiné plusieurs fois des plats typiques qui étaient succulents. L'endroit est à conseiller pour les personnes qui recherchent du calme . Par contre , il faut prévoir d'avoir une voiture car la villa se trouve à +/-20 min des magasins et de la cÎte. Pour se restaurer , ne pas hésiter à aller à la taverne 'the view' qui se trouve à 500m de la villa : les tenanciers sont super gentils et vous serez probablement les seuls clients certains soirs. Vous pourrez y manger à un prix défiant toute concurrence! D'ailleurs, il faut savoir que la CrÚte n'est pas trÚs cher en général. En résumé : nous vous conseillons vraiment l'endroit si vous le calme, la montagne, les chÚvres (il y a beaucoup en liberté! ;-) )
