From the North 1. Travel southwards and join the A1 motorway (or equivalent major road) towards the Scotch Corner junction (Junction 53). 2. After approximately 4 miles beyond Richmond you’ll see a sign-post for Marske / Marrick / Hurst on the right — take that right turn. 5. Follow the country lane down into Marske. In the village, continue up the hill (Cordilleras Lane), take the first turning on the right after you come out of the trees (do not turn left into the property on the left-hand side). 6. Once you turn right, follow the lane until you reach Rubbing House. 7. Please note: the last section is a minor country lane; take care and drive slowly.
From the South 1. From the south, drive northwards on the A1 (or other major route depending on where you start) until you reach the Scotch Corner interchange (Junction 53). 2. At Scotch Corner, take the A6108 towards Richmond. 3. Drive through Richmond and continue on the A6108 towards Reeth. 4. About 4 miles beyond Richmond you will spot the right-hand turn signposted Marske / Marrick / Hurst. Take that right turn. 5. Follow the country lane down into Marske. Continue along that lane until you arrive at the property.
Important Notes • If your sat nav directs you to the house on the left as you exit the trees, please ignore that turn — the correct turn is the first right. • The final approach is along a narrow country lane; please proceed with caution, and ensure your vehicle is suitable for such roads. • Because of the rural setting, mobile signal may be patchy — keep an eye on landmarks and signs rather than relying solely on sat nav. • We’ve found that many guests find the sign-post Marske / Marrick / Hurst helpful as a landmark for the turn.
We have uploaded a couple of photos below of what you shall see when you emerge from teh trees on Cordilleras Lane.

A fantastic get away from it all.Waking up every morning to the sounds of the sheep & lambs bleating in the distance with the bees buzzing among the garden flowers with the birdsong and the magnificent views across Swaledale was absolutely idyllic. The cottage is very welcoming with homely decoration. The hosts have provided lots of information about things to do in the Dales as well as lots of information about walking routes. We didn't need to venture far from the peace & quiet of Rubbing House to enjoy further great views and enjoyable walks.Happily, all of the cooing utensils are absolutely spotless, a detail which is sometimes missing from holiday cottages. I hope we left everything as clean as we found it!The house, garden and parking are accessed through very sturdy and easy-to-use gates, so no livestock will invade the garden, although we did see a friendly bovine looking curiously over the wall once or twice!Would not hesitate to book again should the opportunity arise.
